Default GTO firewall holes

The holes with the bolts in the attached photo are for the parking brake. What does the 1" larger hole below and the third smaller hole next to the parking brake assembly go to?

The 1” hole is for wires to come through and the smaller hole to the right is for a retainer for the interior firewall pad.

This is what one of my 1967 GTOs has in the larger hole which I don’t believe to have ever been changed, but it is 52 years old: same family owned since 1995. I’d need to dig through some boxes to try and determine what (if anything) I removed from that hole on my other car back in 1999. Attachment 509683

Photo didn't come up. Can you try again? Always like to see the way the factory did it and the parts they used on the assembly line.

FWIW here is a shot from an un-restored '66

This looks similar YG's image and is also listed as '67- so there may have been a change after '66?

I believe you are correct. The one in your link is the type used on 2 67's I have here.

Ames has a new part listed in their catalog that is the pic Jeff posted as 66-67; I wondered when I saw it listed as it wasn’t familiar to me...

Just to be clear, the type that OPGI sells is correct for '67's?

I recollect that some 67's have the wiper harness integrated into the headlight harness, and some have the wiper harness separately. In post #9 that looks like this car has separate windshield wiper harness, and hence quite a few more wires than post #10 (a 66)

Correct.

Another un-restored 66.
The single wire coming through my hooded sleeve/grommet is for the under hood light.

Here is a grommet from inlinetube:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/67-72-ALL-P...trkparms=aid%3

Looks exactly like what OPGI sells but much cheaper. Confusing because it advertises '68-72 in the inlinetube description, yet '67-72 in the Ebay title. Also, it infers there shouldn't even be a hole unless the car came with factory hood tach or under hood light or hideaway cars...just a dimple. I read somewhere else while researching this hole that the hole was for vacuum lines on factory A/C cars.

My '67 GTO does have this hole (I assume from the factory)...but no hood tach, no hideaways, no under hood light nor A/C.

Maybe '68-72 firewalls didn't have the hole punched from the factory unless one of those options were ordered? Inlinetube messes up a lot, so who knows. I'm betting the 1 1/8" hole was pre drilled from the factory on all '66 and 67's...just used for different wires or perhaps no wire at all like 66sprint6 mentioned.

Wish I had taken photos of this area when I dismantled the car. Of course, my car had a lot of after market stuff added so a photo wouldn't do much good if after market wires were run through that spot. Thank goodness for this forum and the nice folks who are willing to share info with each other.
