Default 2bbl 68 GTO convertible

I was wondering if anyone other than me was restoring their 2bbl GTO to original. I have a 68 GTO with the 2bbl 400, automatic. I would love to have any pictures or information that might be out there. I know they only made 432 convertibles so I'm guessing that their won't be to many of these left.

I had a 69 two barrel GTO and it was a very nice car. I didn't really restore it, but I did have it painted. I bought it from the original owner about 20 years ago and owned it for a couple years. It's the Expresso Brown GTO in the attached picture.

I don't have a 2bbl, but if I did I'd definitely restore it with the 2bbl intact. I like unusual options like that, and if I wanted to go fast I'd probably pick something different anyway. A well behaved, simple to tune and maintain 2bbl would be fine with me.

I saw this one for sale online years ago and saved pics. For me, it falls into the rare but not desirable camp. I'd keep the 2bbl on the shelf and put a 4bbl on it for fun driving.

My 69 two barrel GTO had chrome valve covers and they were factory installed.

Yup, that's what mine looks like. Except mine is red with black top and black interior. I also have the dual gate shifter with console and it didn't have power dics brake until I did the conversion (for saftey)..

I know mine will be slow but, it was my parents car when I was a kid. I have a lot memories riding it. Did you keep the original carb, intake and heads?

That's cool, how does it run with the low compression heads? I would love to see pictures of your car.

Don't overlook the original tower clamps on Radiator hose at Thermostat!

I have a VERY early Pontiac built 68 GTO - 08/09/67 build date (VIN 100110) that is a 400 2bbl car, buckets (hardtop). It was missing original heads (#14). These are still neat, just lack a bit of performance compared to the cam/intake/carb of the 350 HP standard engine. If one merely put on intake/carb, they would experience SOME performance gains but would be limited by smaller cam.

The engine runs great has small cam and headers. I drove the car to valley forge two years ago. Great cruiser. If i feel the need to go fast i take the 2005. Will post pics soon.

I saved these pics because the car looked astoundingly original. This was back in 2005. Wonder what ever happened to it?
