I would like to freshen up the engine compartment this summer. Planning on pulling the motor. I don’t know Ra2’s that well and want to correct as much as I can. This is what I have so far.

Clutch fan incorrect
Heat shield?
Clamp on ps hose
Wrong master
Temp sending unit

I have seen a couple engine s with brackets that the slots dont line up welll
always wondered ifone was a repro and 1 an original ,,, like one slot was longer than the other bracket,,,

fairly sure we had a big S on the rivet in the center,,,
I would just add a couple correct items under your hood and keep drivin it !!
I enjoy looking at nice driven original cars .... rather than shiney restos

Looks nice why pulling it? The only thing my old eye's notice is that Oil Fill Cap. Throw on a AC-FC2 is my guess but most likely wrong Nothing like learning a new year let alone new hp motor. Enjoy and do keep sharing. Cheers

Coil should be a 288.

No, all 68 Ram Air cars used the standard 4 blade fan like this. Also, your water pump pulley should be plated silver cad/zink, not painted black.

What spacer do I need?

The distributor vacuum solenoid should have a green cover. Black was for the standard engine with 3 or 4 speed.

Unless you can find an original no one reproduces the green cover. However you can get creative and paint it to be green. There was an original on ebay a while back. I used it for reference.

Nice to see original set of RA II exhaust manifolds. I got lucky and found a nice set. I had them coated by Jet Hot.

I made some changes from stock configuration. I "by passed" the factory vacum advance routing (its there for correct look) but found my car likes vacuum from intake port (full vacum). Carb is a 263 not 273 ( 263 is correct 68 manual transmission). Distributor is a early 68 manual transmission code modified with single advance port like correct RA II distributor. I had sold Jim Mino the last correct fan blade and spacer I had. Also talked to him about distributors and vacum routing before he passed. He sent me pictures of a RA II distributor he just restored.

I find these RA II cars intriguing. In fact 68 GTO has a lot of "one year only" parts much like the RA II engines.

My car is not a concourse car but am trying to make it mostly correct.

Somewhere i have a 68 4-Blade Fan and Spacer from a 68 Catalina 400 2bbl.
Was mint when pulled the engine in 1981 to rebuild. Never assembled it.
Painted everything Gold & Grey, so that will make it easier to locate in 2021.
It will be the only Gold Fan i have

Not sure if they are date coded or ID stamped (AA for example)

Have a 68 Ram2 PMD Buildsheet to pull codes from for fan & spacer.
Just need to verify it didn't have any HD Fan option on the Buildsheet car.
Or on your Car.
Buildsheet is from GTO Wolf 68 TripleBlk Ram2

The Aegena Blue Ram2 4spd had a driver side Exh Shroud when found.
Sort of backs up the idea that the cars were shipped with the single snork breather mounted.

The PY member who rescued and restored the Aegena Blue Ram2 posted a lot of reference pics about the car/engine pieces iirc

First two engine pictures are of the Aegena Blue car. It is a automatic manual steering and brakes so a few differences. I have attached pictures of the fan and spacer I sold Jim Mino. They came off a 68 Tempest Custom 350 2bbl. Also will attach pictures of Jim Mattisons RA II GTO that sold at BJ in 2016 (last engine picture). It is very correct but does appear to wear reproduction RAIV exhaust manifolds.

I have seen pictures of the heat shield. From what information I have gathered the cars were shipped with closed hood scoops and standard air cleaner/heat shield. The RA pans and open scoops were in the trunk. Dealers installed them and painted the scoops to match the car.

The Automatic Aegena Deuce was from Muscle_Collector stock.

The 4spd Aegena Deuce was a field find on eBay - different car.
Was being sold as a parts car/project on eBay and he scooped it up for cheap.
Very un-touched in engine bay/engine departments

Exh Shield was present as-found , still mounted in place.

Thanks for clarifiation. Did not know there were two documented Aegena Blue cars out there. The pictures I have were from the MCACN event. I am collecting as much information about these as I can to better educate myself and correct things on my car. Picture attached is the car that I showed engine pictures for.
