Here is what I came across so far. Ad read " Restored 67 GTO HO 4 speed , nice car, all correct, rare, so on and so on... blah blah blah.... Looked at the car and found, Very bad paint, a replaced trunk floor that was only spot welded in places and not even sealed to the 1/4 panel extensions. You could see daylight from under the car. Lh floor pan replaced by the same booger welder, poor done under hood..... All for big money.. SO the search continues. Thanks to all that have helped so far....

If you haven't found one by spring, you need to come for a ride to IL and look at mine. She is away in storage for now. I haven't had anyone be disappointed by the car, just only trade offers, no cash.

I just don't need any corvettes, boats, or more Harley's if I want to stay married.

Went to look at one a couple of weeks ago in by a well know person Michigan. Ram air car, matching #'s. Claimed to be solid car needing paint, a vinyl top and general cleaning up. Drove 3 + hours to find a car needing frame repair, bondo in the 1/4's, front fenders, rear wheel wells, poorly installed trunk floor, tail lamp panel. etc...... So much for a solid car. If you are selling a car, PLEASE take a really good look at it before you sell it so you can describe it honestly. Search continues.......

You are right Larry. Be happy you didn't waste your time. Are you in the market for a 67 also?

Default You mifght want mine

I am struggling with the idea of selling mine. I bought my 67 GTO Regimental Red 400, with His and her shifter new in 1967 at Jules Verne Pontiac in 1967 prior to getting married and going overseas. When I went overseas, I left the car with my parents in TN where they drove it for a few years. Dad left if parked for years ad I bought it back in 1978 and decided to restore the paint and body. The rear deck panel had rusted out behind the rear glass. I stripped the paint down to metal where the spots from something in the air when these cars were built left little pin head size dots of discoloration. I acid washed the bare metal and applied an acid base primer then polyester primer. I pulled the engine and had the block hot dipped and hones and all new bearings, rings, timing chain etc. I cc'd the heads and ported the manifold to heads.

When I moved the car to TN, we removed the smog pump required only in California and basically made this a Federal Car. Since that time, the only non factory part on this car is the alternator. I even had the original water pump rebuilt. Now I am retired and soon to be 70. I have a 65 that is kinda my hot rod. non stock engine, trans etc.

What to do? get it to a body shop for the sheet metal replacement and painted and finish it up and sell it for some pretty big bucks or sell it as is to someone that wants to finish restoring a truly original car.

It needs, deck panel, lower rear quarter patch panels, rear tail light panel (I have an in the box NOS Panel) and I have restoration parts for the others. The rockers had rust and I did those with chopped fiber glass filler and it's held. The radiator neck needs re soldering and perhaps a re-coring. Passenger side front fender and top of rear quarter panel have a dent where a tree limb hit it in a storm 3 years ago. Interior is all original, but have suffered from mildew. I had Peter Serious redo the gauges about 10 years ago. I haves boxes of ever nut and bolt removed.

So do I get this finished or let someone serious do it?
