State Auto Insurance
Does anyone here have any experience dealing with this company? After my conversation with one of their reps today I'm not too confident about a smooth outcome.
One of their insured hit the wife's 03 Monte Carlo SS Jeff Gordon edition in a parking lot with his 35 foot Southwind RV. Our car was parked legally and within the lines. In fact, it was the only car in the parking lot at that time. My conversation with the State Auto rep ended with him saying "At this time, we do not accept liability on this claim."

That is a common response until the policy holder notifies his company. But sometimes they like to drag their feet until they have no choice.

The rep from State Auto initiated the contact with us today. Their policy holder had contacted him. I was going to wait to call them until I had the estimates in my hand. The accident happened Sunday morning.

If they don't come across by Friday, I would call start calling the adjuster everyday until they do. But don't be surprised if they have no interest in your estimates. They will probably assign an adjuster to look it over and they will mail you the bad news.
Then the fun begins.... |

I spoke to my agent (Allstate) yesterday and today about this. According to my agent, whose daughter coincidently has the same car as us, he said as the victim we have the right to refuse their adjuster and to use the choice of our body shop.
