Not really seeing any part numbers.

What is the intake manifold part number you have?

Default Limit warning...

Bob-

Congrats on the new purchase! Wow, sounds like a very nice car that will be an excellent fit into the high pedigree garage you already have. I am sure you are anxious for the delivery tomorrow.

The last time I checked though, I think you are over your limit of the number of cool cars one guy can have!

The black car is still my favorite!

Jim

Congrats publicly on the car Bob - LOVE IT but hey, what's not to like? Red with Deluxe interior, 4spd & honeys - doesn't get much better than that!

Bob,
My Formula is a 04C with the later emissions. If you need any pictures of the intake manifold let me know, including the TCS solenoid. I have been trying to find out the correct lengths and routing of the vacuum hoses for it, but it doesn't make sense the way they show it routing.

John, could you email all the pages of that service bulletin? I could pm you my email address. I have only gotten some pages over the years. I would like to print the complete thing and laminate it for any future reference.

Thanks,
Karl

PS, Congrats on the new purchase!!

Thanks Karl. I would love to have some pictures that show the emission setup and hardware. In terms of running the hoses, my experience is that if you act and look like you know what your doing, that counts for at least 50%. I'm still not sure I have all the hoses routed correctly on the Gold Car, but man it looks good and the routing appears logical. The 13K mile TA is selling at Mecum Dallas and I hope someone can get some pictures of a low mile, unmolested car. The Red Car is low mile, but it has had a few molestations.

Now, about those pictures...post them up.

Bob, that's a real nice car. The gentleman that bought my 72 T/A had the red car for while. I got to test drive it and took some photos of it around back in 2012. Thankfully, he bought it off ebay in order to prevent it from becoming a donor car for several prospective buyers who were going to use all the good low mileage parts for a SD restoration.

Did the heater core ever get replaced? If I recall it had a long term leak that resulted in a rust spot on the passenger lower fender.

Yeah, WCG took care of the heater core and rust. All is well.

Thanks Karl. When you have time I would love to have the number stamped on the TCS solenoid.

BTW - your setup looks incredible and completely original. Tell me a little about your car. I don't remember seeing a thread.

Default TCS P/N

Bob,
Here is a picture with the part number. Thanks for the compliment.

I never had a thread about it. We bought the car from what we thought was the original owner back in 82 with probably around 50,000 on it. Recently I tried doing a title search, and either he was the second owner or he re-registered it. It was a Texas car, the previous owner removed the Quadrajet and installed a Holley, but kept the original Quadrajet and gave it to us with the car.

Back in 96 I had the original carb rebuilt and installed, then after finding out on the way up to Minnesota, temps started climbing high and oil pressure dropping. Come to find out the PCV valve got hooked to the wrong port and I had a quart of oil in the air cleaner. On the way home I thought I spun a bearing at about 92,000, so I had a friend of mine completely go over the engine that spring. He kept everything original.

That is where I have been trying to find out the correct routing of the vacuum lines for the TCS, and reading the Service Bulletin it doesn't make sense. I have been trying to find correct locations for the Vacuum Tee to feed the air cleaner also. I know it really doesn't matter much, but I get to be a little anal at times with some stuff. Try to at least make it look correct even if I block off certain hoses afterwards internally. One of these days I need to hook up vacuum gauges and see certain readings from certain ports at different times.

I wish I had taken better pictures when I looked at a '73 a few years ago.
In case you couldn't tell, it was an automatic car and fits the diagram perfectly.

Here's a couple links to a pic from a Illust. Parts book:

73 Diagram

73 Diagram list

It says Tempest/GP on it but think the diagram would be relevant.

Is this the area you are not sure of?

John - Thanks for all the useful info. Is any of this available on your website, and if so what section?

John,

do you have any diagrams for the early '73s? My Formula was built Dec. of '72 and does not have the provision for the ported switch in the water passage of the intake. Any help would be much appreciated.

Not for sure if I have any pics.

The one I posted on the change over had the early pic to compare to the later:

73 EGR

I would imagine Pontiac didn't want anyone converting from later to earlier, so not sure they had a lot of 'old data' dispensed out there.

I also haven't seen anything about having to convert any older setup to the later one?

I can look around, but the pic above is what I have that I know about.

Most is on my computer or some is on my sites but not linked to.
(good place to store them)
