Default "Chrome" RallyeII Photos

Ok, so I've gotten to the point where it's time to think about wheels.

I'm definitely going with Rallye II's, but I'm trying to decide between factory coloring and the chrome finish versions like the ones available at Wheel Vintiques, Specialty Wheel, etc.

I'd really like to see how the chrome Rallye II's look on a car, preferably a dark color/black car. Does anyone have photos like that so I can get a sample of how those wheels look?

Thanks,
Bear

Did the non-spoke section come painted with that color?

I really like the chrome, but it seems the non-spoke section needs to be much darker to more closely match the original ralley II color scheme and to set off the chrome.

my 2 pennies worth, anyway.

I bought mine from Specialty Wheels last year (15 X 7 front and 15 X 8 rear). You can get them with the Argent Silver or Charcoal Gray centers. I like the gray centers better than the silver, but decided to go with the silver because I thought they brightened up the car more. I basically wanted to mimic the look of the Cragar SS wheels that were on the car as much as possible. Cragars look great, but I hated them (no offense to the guys that love them)... too many cars with that wheel for my tastes . I rarely see Pontiacs at a show as it is (when I do they ALWAYS seem to have Cragar SS wheels) and seeing one with chrome Rally II's hasn't happened yet. Took a while for me to get used to the look, but I really like them now.

Here is my car with the Cragar's:

And with the Chrome Rally II's

Hope that helps.

Scott

Green has never been my favorite color for a car, but damn, that looks nice!

Not mine either. I really like Atoll Blue and considered changing to that color when I first got the car, but the Verdoro Green has grown on me and I like it enough to keep it that color.

Thanks.

Thank you. It was such a drastic change in look I wasn't sure I made the right call when I got them on there - especially picking silver instead of gray and red caps/lug nuts over black/chrome, but I'm very happy with it now.

No, 16" is the largest they (Specialty Wheel) have listed. You could contact them to see about a custom set, but I bet that would be pricey even if they were willing to do it.

I think Wheel Vintiques makes a larger than 16" Rallye II, but it's not cheap IIRC. North of $600 per I think, vs. under $200 per for the chome R-II's shown in this thread.

Nope... they (Wheel Vintiques) don't list anything other than 14" and 15" rally wheels on their website either.

Nice... I like it. Is that photoshopped or is it an actual wheel that can be ordered (just curious - not gong to be replacing my chrome Rally II's any time soon).

I think you have to click on WV's billet section to get these.

http://wheelvintiques.myshopify.com/...tiac-93-series

They don't list any size at all, but their pic looks like it's much larger than a 15".
Way too large for my taste though. The 15"'s you have on your LeMans have the proper look, IMO.

I'm pretty sure there have been 17" & 18" R-II's around for a while (there probably is a few PY members that have them), and IIRC, it was WV that made them. I think Jim Wanger's latest creation has 19" or 20" R-II's. Don't know who made them though.

Probably shopped.
A friend of mine had a set of KMD's on his CanAm but weren't painted like the one I posted.
Wheels are sold without them painted.

I almost pulled the trigger on the AR magnum...nice looking I thought. I went with Specialty Wheels 17" Rallye IIs. They do have them in Chrome....I had to ask to have a set done in the all powder coat silver/charcoal combo.

And they are very affordable, costing less than the ARs by $50.00 per wheel! And you can run nice PMD centercaps

The tires I got on my 17s have enough sidewall "meat" to look good (like a muscle car should IMO)....everyone that has seen them has to double take to see they they are 17s....I don't like rubberbands either.
