Turboed LS 70 GTO
Hey guys, I just wanted to get your thoughts on my build. I'm building a Turboed 70 LS GTO like the thread title says. I have a 6.0 LQ4 with 317 heads and a stock cam for now. I want this car to get decent mileage so I am going to keep it fairly mild right now as far as the cam goes. Not sure how to upload images right now. I'll figure it out.

Oh, and I have a 4l80e with the factory rear end. 3.08 gears I think.

What are you using for turbo exhaust manifolds?

If you need help with the cam, contact me. I've made several cams for turbo-LS motors. Several putting 600-700hp to the wheels, the wildest one put over 1100 to the wheels with unported L92 heads.

Truck manifolds.
There is a link to a gallery. Not sure how to put pics directly in the thread. |

Nice! Wow, I really want this to be a daily driver with good street manners and fuel economy. I know that as soon as you start getting much duration the fuel economy goes away.

My intake lobes for turbo cams are all fairly small. Even the 1100+ hp cam was in the 240's @ .050. The trick is getting the exhaust valve to open at the right time, and getting the right amount of overlap.

And that'll fit under the hood? Subscribed ....

Yeah, It barely fits under the hood.
The oil pan is about 3/4 inch from the crossmember and the top of the alternator was touching. It was a 140 amp alternator so I swapped it out for the small case delphi alternator like 105 amp. The exhaust piping was fabricated with the engine in the car. The turbo suction has a cone air filter basically up against the core support on the passenger's side. The exhaust downpipe is 4" just after it comes out of the turbo and just barely clears the frame and inner fender. You can see the body work I had to do to the exhaust. |

I took an air hammer to the transmission tunnel and opened it up a little. Some places a lot to fit the 4l80 but you can barely tell and can't at all from the inside.

Looks good and should haul ass. You dont need a bunch of high dollar parts to go fast with a turbo!

I get it, not welcome because I put a Chevy engine in a GTO. What if it were a 6.0 from a new generation GTO or G8? It's not but we don't need pedantic hating. I have a 72 LeMans that has a 463 in it. I am just tired of getting 8 miles per gallon. I want something I can drive all of the time. I want to replace my truck as a daily driver.
