Default 1970 space saver and hook

My car came with space saver and as far back as I can remember I never had one just a full size spare. If I get an am or cl 14 x6 or 14 x 7 rim.do thet reproduce spare tire? Also I located a hook and Like to buy it but not sure if correct. Need help verifying it's correct for my car. I don't ever remember seeing a space saver in car just a full size spare. I did have a trunk Matt but it was ripped so I threw it away when I was 16.thank you

Unless you have documents that show your car came with a space saver spare (which would have been one of those funny looking deflated tires on a rim that appeared to have two valve stems, with the canister), your spare would have been a fifth wheel;
By that I mean what ever wheels your car had, the spare should be the same.

If your car was a no-wheel option car, CL (14x7) was what all five wheels were.

14x7” wheels with F70-14 blackwall tires were standard on the Formula;
optional were:
1) Rally II wheels (in the size appropriate to the tire the car was going to be built with; included with F60-15 tires)
2) Raised white letter tires (F70-14)
3) F60-16 (Raised white letter; incl Rally II)

For base and Esprit, the 14x6” wheels were used unless F78-14 or F70-14 tires were opted - both bumped the wheels to 14x7”;
The standard tire on a base or Esprit was an E78-14 (raised white letter optional).

A previous post by Ric explains how to tell if your car came with full size or space saver.
Another quick way to tell which type spare tire/wheel a '70-73 Firebird had, (assuming an original unaltered trunk) would be to see which way the J-bolts hold down bracket is welded on. If the slot goes left to right, that was for a full size spare. If the slot runs front to back, that was the orientation for a Space Saver.

My 70 Trans Am has full size spare 15x7 JW. My 70 Formula has 14x7 JS with space saver spare. Trunks are different where spare and jack go as shown in assembly manual picture. Original spare (photo) has been restored. I do have the original decal but have not put it back on yet.

Yes it is a 14" and yes it was gray. It had the paint specially mixed to match (as close as possible) from the area where the decal was removed.
