Default disc/drum brake (non-power assist) question...

Think I may have figured it out.....but looking for input...

73 bird with manual brakes.....and I want to keep it that way...

On the rear...new wheel cylinders...linings spring and adjuster kits....

on the front....reman calipers and new pads...

I decided to try semi-metallic pads and shoes..

After driving several miles......the brakes start to feel like they are dragging.....after several light applications.....I have a hand held temperature indicator....and it seems that the front rotors are getting way hot too fast..like 180 degrees...and right side hotter than left by 20 degrees....

I suspect front flex brake hoses....so that will be this weekends job...

The other thing that comes to mind is master cylinder push rod hanging up.....

Once the cars sits for a while it rolls normally..

I'm not sure if these are adjustable, but my 55 Chevy had the exact problem and it was the pushrod to master. I needed to go under dash and adjust it back about 1/4" as it was pushing on the plunger of master cylinder.
