Yes it will be Zone 07
That was the only Michigan Zone State Code 21 is Michigan. It was worth checking out though. Would be a tiresome drive from Michigan to the Dakotas with a 4.33 axle . |

Funny you should mention that... years ago a legit ram air 67 GTO popped up in our state. It was a factory black 4 speed car that had the posi gears swapped out so they could drive it in North Dakota. (It can take awhile to get somewhere long distance wise). When I bought my car, I called the guy to see if was still around. He sold it to a collector in Idaho...maybe oregon? Anyways... it's crazy to me that it sold before I bought mine.

No further updates at this time. I've purchased the engine and coordinating shipping currently. When the engine arrives, I'll look it over and see what's needed to get it running. In the meantime, I'll look for an OE ram air pan, HO exhaust, and other missing parts it needs. If anybody has any leads on an original ram air pan..... I'm interested. And Yes I'm aware of the one on eBay, $5000 for that pan isn't in my budget.

Congrats on getting reunited with the engine.
Great update. Are you planning on trying to leave the car unrestored , but back in one piece ? |

There are so many cloned GTO's floating around that I think the future of the hobby is going to be in original paint cars, or maybe unrestored cars. The rarity of something so performance oriented having survived that era is... like hitting the lottery. As such, my plan is to put it back together in its current condition. I do have the Tyrol Blue front clip from the car. I'd like to source the nicest bumpers I can find that aren't rechromed and I'll clean up the engine bay and interior, but beyond that I think this ol' girl is perfect the way she is. I might polish the paint a little, but have no plans to strip or repaint. No one will be able to deny that this car has been rebodied. At that point, it'll be driven, and hopefully often.
With that in mind, if anyone has original parts for a 67 GTO that don't need restored, I'm interested. (wood wheel, interior buckets, door panels, etc) |

Original paint cars / Unrestored cars (Survivors) have been at the top of the wish list for decades. As they say ….. They’re Only Original Once. Restored / repainted cars are “a dime a dozen”, and never look authentic. JMHO ^^^ |

Tygrr67,
I’m becoming very impressed since you offered up that matching XS Block with the PHS. I tried to clean up your photos a bit and it seems the factory stripes may be the Originals from the doors back ? Hopefully the fenders look the same. If it were me I’d clean and soak the lower rear quarters with thick oil to prevent further rust travel. The lower stainless trim should hide most. Have the dent pulled out on the RH rear quarter where it looks like the bumper was pushed in. Not knowing the condition of the frame / undercarriage components may be a concern but the body definitely qualifies for just preservation, NOT restoration. I occasionally see decent 66-67 front bumpers, but the ‘67 GTO rear may be difficult to locate. Bottom line ….. this rare ‘67 Ram Air is worth the wait on anything it needs. Good luck ! |

Tygrr67,
Would you mind posting a clear photo of the entire “1967 Car Billing History” card. We would like to see the last group of 70’s numbers showing the powertrain information. Also since you have the front clip for this car maybe a photo of the underside of hood showing the factory cutout used for the Ram Air cars. Much appreciated. Thank you ! |

Tygrr67, have you considered dry ice blasting the bottom of the car? I've seen great results with it. 100% with you with preservation of the car in it's current condition. Thanks for the updates. I'll be watching this closely.. Hope to see it at Norwalk.

You'll find attached the 70's group from the PHS. I'll have to post pix of the underside later, but as I understand the 67 Ram Air option, the ram air parts were placed in the trunk when shipped from the factory. The dealership then installed the pan and opened up the hood/hood scoop. With that in mind, the hood scoop looks like generically cut out. I always imagined the hood scoop to be a factory special scoop, but this one looks like a 1st grader cut it open. I'll post pictures as well. But , with regards to the hood itself, it too looks rather generically cut out.
Now as for the frame and underside, I think the worst body damage to the car was the passenger quarter. the frame is rust free and straight. Usually these cars seem to show damage from being pulled from a ditch. This one doesn't. |

Thank you for the additional information.
Those Ram Air scoops and hoods were crude in the making. Here is a History Card for a ‘67 YR (A.I.R) showing it’s 70’s powertrain numbers. |

In my opinion, your car is worth more than a restored 67 RA! Good luck with such a great find! |

Particularly the firewall , inner fenders , radiator support , maybe underside of hood. Rob's Linden Green 67 Post Body RA 4spd did not do well at all at Mecum. An eyewitness report said the car was real in-between'ish quality with AutoZone type parts. I didn't get verification of engine and axle. Reportedly it earned it's money . Not a banging bargain scenario. |

Goes to show that you learn something every day. I wasn't aware that Dry Ice blasting was a thing. After watching a few youtube videos, i'm interested.... does anybody have a place they've worked with before and would recommend? Traveling to someone I can trust doesn't bother me. Leaving the car in the hands of someone overnight wouldn't be an option unless I'm in the vicinity.

You have to feel bad for the guy at dealer who was chosen to cut the scoop and hood bracing!

Was just looking at the Mecum auction on that linden green ram air GTO. Personally, I've always like Linden Green. Not my 1st choice of colors in a 67, but it'd make my top 5 color choice. Regardless, that Ram Air GTO pulled $55k at auction. Ouch. I can't believe it pulled those numbers. That seems ridiculously low given the restoration costs. I'm guessing things like the EverStart battery and the post didn't interest the bidders. Too bad, it's a cool car. A local friend is aware of my car and offered me $30k for it. It is a tempting offer, but I can't bring myself to do it. To me, this is an awesome color combination and once in a lifetime opportunity for a 67 GTO guy like myself. Sooner or later, I will be at Norwalk showing the car. Maybe not this fall..... but soon.

Is it possible that the Linden green at Mecum did not have its born with drive train?? Maybe that's the reason it only got $55k. I'm only speculating, I have no idea whether it did or not. A car with its original drive train is always worth a premium, without it , start cutting the price..

Listed below is a link for the auction promo. I noticed it had a flat tire and goofy looking filler panel behind the rear seat. From what was represented, it looks like the original driveline was in the car. But when buyers look at a car, and silly things like a flat tire are present, it leads people to question what other corners have been cut. I also think post GTO's just don't seem to sell as well as hardtops, just my $.02 ..... But watch the 2 minute video and see for yourself.
