Question Water Pump Pulley Finish - 1965

Awesome 65 for sure but I'm curious that this completely restored to factory original spec. 65 that has been mentioned to be the most accurate on the show circuit (many first place wins) has a bright cad plated water pump pulley??

Out of maybe 8 to 10 Original 65 pulleys (PS or not) from all different plants that I have on file all show this pulley painted black.

PS, the starter wire clip at lower rear valve cover bolt should be engine blue.

i'm betting that's this car. If you remember ST did a spread in one of the rags with detail tips . There was a car posted there with that pulley finish

The battery hold down is incorrect .... should only have one star washer. ( I just mentioned this is a previous thread)

I see several other items that are incorrect as well......

Ok I almost don't want to respond anymore to original or non original so below is a picture of an original water pump pulley on a 65 that has been in my possession almost 40 years and I purchased it from the original owner's because the transmission lost reverse . you can decide the correct color from where I removed the spacer. I will add that I don't remember any painted pulleys on 4s 5s 6s or 7s and the collection of pulleys from those years on my shelf are silver cad .

Lightbulb Correction / Clarification

3 Deuce 64,

My bad, on the claim of P/S (power steering) having a black painted W/P pulley. The "P/S" 2-groove pulleys were cad plated.

The "NON" P/S 64-65-66 GTO's all used the same water pump pulley #544595 (1-groove) that were painted black as shown below on a couple 64's, couple 65's and a 66 with NO P/S. That's why I was questioning the prize winning 65 in my initial thread.

Is the pulley you posted above that is showing cad plating by chance a 2-groove off a P/S car with number 9778808 stamped in it?

yes ,it is an original ps car I'm not sure what the number is I can check it later . The odd thing is I can only remember having a couple cars out of all the cars I've had that were non PS a 64 , a 65 and my 67 post . I changed the 65 and 67 to PS .

Out of the couple dozen 65's I've owned over the years, I've never seen one with a silver cad water pump pulley. I don't recall if any had PS or not. I seem to remember having trouble getting one bled out after a restoration, but I can't recall what year it was. The only silver cad water pump pulley I recall was on a 66. But I'm old and getting senile.
