Can someone post a clear "1968 Car Building Order Sheet" so I, we'all, yuonz can read the fine print in th upper blocks?
Blank is best, but original is fine. GTO preferred but no biggie.

OG68; 1st and 3rd, P 4060 in upper left. I dunno if "D" blurry, but revised 7 67 matches.
Mine has the #2 in the Green ink upper right. Somebody else's has a 3 there.

3rd image is not resolved good enough, would be awesome in original colors and high Rez. Thanks!

We had a thread on this a few years ago. (or more)

I think it was someone (like an inspector?) who wrote their initials on them.
This thread also went on to the lady who signed the gloveboxes (on Birds?) I think.

All of them are photos I downloaded from the web. Probably this site.

I don't have one from my car. I found the blank and filled it with info from my three option car. Fonts are incorrect but its strictly for my benefit.

I blew up a few that seemed to be the clearest.
It's definitely 4060 D and 4060 C.
Both rev dates 7 67

Anybody have "decodes" for items 34 - 80? Might figure 37-70, but 34-37 & 71-80 are a mystery to me.

My Car Building Order has "TOC" instead of "TAC"

34 is engine option 345
35 tranny 351
36 posi. 361
37 axle ratio. 37S
just examples

73 - 80 have very limited use and are usually operation codes
or
upfit operation codes , like a new piece of mandated equipment (just for example)
headrests or shoulder belts (just as examples)

I think we have a couple or few of them decoded in the 73-80 range
And some unknowns too

We have a LOT of this stuff deciphered in the Ram2 Roll Call and those BHC breakdowns I did

Only on PMD plant Bsheets

At one time, some thought he was a guy that signed off on the build at the end of the line..
to say - a final inspector.

But that doesn't flush since the body drop would conceal the Bsheet on top of the tank.
And car is far from finished at that point.

Then I noticed (like you) it was on basically about every 68-71 PMD Bsheet
Same writing style - so same guy doing them.

It sort of would mean he was there around the clock everyday if he was signing them and then dropping them on top of the tanks for every work shift.

So probably ....
He must have been a big boss that signed off approved every build order before they were released to the line , probably dropped down a fresh stack every morning of Bsheets he had approved on the work day before.

But since they all seem to have it , he couldn't have been there all day and all night , all week , so it about has to be something to it at the forefront . Not at the end .

There were about 4 or 5 copies minimum - for each car.
The number usually coincides with the whereabouts of where the Bsheet was found in the car.
We are talking about PMD A-bodies , nothing else , for the sake of argument.

Within the year model , the ones found on top of tanks will all have the same number.
And most times there is evidence of tank traces on them to back it up.

Ones found under carpet the same number. (different number than the tank finds)
And most times there are floorpan imprint traces or drain plug traces to back it up.
Usually some underlayment tar too.

etc etc

We have at least one that was taken from car at end of completion off the windshield from under the wiper by the PMD employee the car was built for (Atoll Blue Ram4 Judge with Sandal Bench) that has a different number from any other example on file.

I can't access any of my files to give better specifics to you.

Even the selling dealer got a copy , and they have a different number from the ones found in cars.

Its like 1 2 3 4 5 etc

John probably has all this stuff too if he can locate it .

My "2" was found atop the fuel tank. Tar oils stain on left portion.
The "1968 Billing History" sheet captures all the options found on the "1968 Building Order" sheet.
i noticed that an item or two delineate 1,2,4,8 and my car got "3", so 1+2=3.

Dunno - I have to agree with John it's probably an inspector somewhere in the process.

It's really hard to keep track of where you are on the line, either when you are "in the zone", or if there is a lot of starting and stopping.

Signing the build sheet, or the inspection ticket, or putting a mark on the vehicle, helps you keep track that you have already addressed that vehicle and don't need to deal with it again.

I think the signature has evolved over the years, since my '65 sheet has just a "T" on it.

I knew that was a Pontiac sheet from a hundred feet away as soon as OG68 posted it.

That phrase and the alpha/numeric 1A are first time I can recall seeing either of those particulars.

Do you know where it came from ?
Or how it was obtained ?
Doesn't look like one that was found hidden within the car itself.

Does anyone have old assembly line pictures that give insight to when the gas tank was installed on the cars ?
Was it already bolted to the body before the body dropped on the frame ?
Or was it installed later down the line ?

These TAC marked sheets are always Bsheets from on top of tanks , from best I can recall.

To do full breakdowns for every factor found on the BHC for the 68 GTO Ram2 cars -
I had to use several forms of documents to crack them all , to get it going.
Plus I had to provide prices for each item that had cost , because the whole ball game was dependent on the total content amount equalling the Label Price to the penny.

That was the way to separate 347 code RamOne from 347 code RamTwo
Since they carried different prices for their engine option.

I would share those forms with you if I had access to those files.
