This a a very low miles 1981 nascar pacecar,sold to art tepinski. I slod to him he did not pay for it he lives in elgin illinois. Ihave the title he has the car. can supply vin p/m me thanks alot every one reads this.Art needs to be put in jail.

Ilived in illinois moved to florida,he wanted florida cars so i sold him several. He said he wanted this 53 thousand mile 81 pacecar i just bought, we agreed on a price ,he took the car gave me a few payments ,then stopped paying on it and the parts he stole with the car.I filed a small claims case on him he hire a lawyer paid $250.00 ,out of $4000.00, he owed.The state of florida says they cant do any more. I will then have to file charges on him in illinois. I dont have the money to fly there to do so as ive been laid of my job ,several months now. the company name was artistry auto body near the elgin illinois area.

Call the police in the town his shop is in and see what they say. Can't really say its stolen but unpaid for. Was any type of paperwork drawn up on the sale? If there is no paperwork then he may have to prove you sold him the car.

Sounds like you need someone local to remind him of his obligation.
I wonder if a repo firm can recover the car if needed.
You might call the Elgin Police non emergency number 847-289-2500 and explain the situation.

That sound so good to see that someone cares about my situation.As for the info for the address.I checked and was told they moved. im not sure if the business is still there also.If you can find out i would really appreciate it p.s i did call elgin police again ,the officer said we cant help,its a civil matter. please reply transam dave hudson florida.

I would call the illionis secretary of states office and see what they can do as they are in charge of automobiles here ( to prevent it from being retitled and to see if the bodyshop is still in business as they regulate them and can see if the car is still there ) and the illinois state police and see if charges can be drawn up , I hate people who take advantage of others hope this will help

I used to live in Elgin many years ago, but haven't been back. Good idea to contact the IL Secretary of States office. For a fee they can check to see if it's been titled or registered. Technically he's supposed to register or title the car within 30 days of "buying" it, but the state can't force him to if the car isn't driven. He'd probably be able to get a replacement title pretty easy as long as the car isn't listed as stolen.

Since he owes money a course of action might be to have it reposessed, but I don't know how repo laws apply to private party sales. I don't see why not, but the repo man will want a cut and you still have to get the car back to FL ($$$). I remember someone on PY was in the business. Maybe ask in the Lobby.

Another question. Are you willing to pay a lawyer to help settle this debt?

I know a fellow Pontiacer in Elgin who's going to drive by and see if the body shop is still there.
There are services on the internet that will supposedly give you his current address for a small fee.
The real problem is actually collecting the money. Even if you win in court, it's still hard to make the guy pay up.
