Ride Height?
I'm curious to know original ride height of a 70 Judge. The space from ground to top of wheel lip. Front and back. Thanks

shop manual, one of the first pages. Don't have it handy but in 69 I believe it was 9.5" from bottom of rocker (the rocker panel itself, not the pinchweld where it connects to the floorpan extension) at the front of the rocker and 9" just ahead of the rear wheel opening. The measurement is made with standard tires, full tank of gas and no occupants or cargo.

So the rear measurement is 1/2" lower than the front?

That's how they built them. Most GM A bodies from that era have a front upward rake

Thats what my car looks like(lower in rear) I see other cars with a good stance .
Thought maybe rear springs need replaced. Will measure mine when I get home. (at Springfield). Also will look at other cars here. Thanks for replies. |

Hi Gordon. Just wanted to say I saw your GTO "The Judge" at Norwalk this year and it is beautiful.

With a half tank of gas, the car sits level and it's a half inch higher in the rear
with an empty tank, and a half inch low in the rear with a full tank. |

All factory ride height measurements called for full tank of fuel and no cargo or passengers. Typically they only gave one set of measurements so they’d be based on base tires. Typically the G70’s on a judge lowered the car 1/2” as compared to the typical G78 or 8.25’s.
