Talking to my pulmonologist in December. He was a critical care Dr. then became a pulmonologist because of all the new medical knowledge that he had to acquire to remain in critical care. As of the end of January he had to read 2 books on new pulmonology findings. He said it is a young mans world with the constant evolution of knowledge. He is in his late 60s. His father was a nuclear engineer for Westinghouse. This constant evolving technology in all fields is amazing to me. Good luck with your tests. I have some tests coming up also.

I almost think we elderly folks are being scammed by some medical providers, especially this upcoming procedure. I've had zero gastro symptoms- never any heartburn, etc. for 83 years now. Yet the doctor says "It's wise to keep an eye on your esophagus". ???????

Jack I wonder same thing. I had some constipation. Seemed to fix with laxatives. PA suggested a CT scan to see any 'kinking'. Anyway the scan they say showed enlarged or swollen lymph nodes in my chest and my stomach. Nothing about 'kinking'. Going to see an oncologist Monday. Could be ok. I guess to protect themselves. Catch it early if something. All my blood work and tests over the years have been normal(that's not indicator for cancer). I do get sinusitis every year with the damp rainy fluctuating weather.

Nothing wrong with keeping an eye on your health as you age. My older brother, mid 60's just had big problems with his gallbladder. There is a bit more but the short story is he had been getting big around the middle more so than usual. This was something he noticed for the last several months. Ends up it was related to his bad gallbladder.

I’m 56. Went in for a routine endoscopy last year and found stage 1 stomach cancer. Totally unexpected. Because it was found early my oncologist is confident with chemo and gastrectomy I should be able to get through it just fine. Other than having lifestyle changes in how much I eat in a sitting

With that being said, if this was 10-15 years ago. I doubt this would have been found.

I am a firm believer to embrace preventative care vs radical treatment We all spend great amounts of time and energy taking care of our cars we need to take care of ourselves with the same amount of passion. Just wish insurance companies felt the same way.

Constipation fix: sit and take several deep breaths. The constriction effect of our esophagus extends all the way to the exhaust tip. But gets lazy, Perhaps even out of shape. Deep inhales will restart that, but also apply the proper pressure, and release the back pressure.

We all know Mandrel bent exhaust flows better, so some daily walking will smooth out the kinks in the gooseneck zones.

Thanks, I was fortunate enough to get it identified before I had any symptoms.

From what I understand, most stomach cancer is identified when stage 3 or stage 4 when the patient starts to exhibit symptoms. From there it is very difficult to treat due to it spreading

Just be thankful it's not spelled "chemotherapy".... That's where I'm typing this from right now, the infusion center.

I was diagnosed with stomach cancer in January '23. They removed my entire stomach in May, announced that I was cancer free and here I am again in January '24, it's cropped up again. It's been a real struggle. I've lost 70 pounds in the last year and I've always been lean to begin with.

Jack - that's indeed a long word for a short procedure. I personally prefer an endoscopy to anything in a dental chair....
