Default From Garage, to the street, back to garage. Sad life for my 70 Formula 400... pics

This car sat for 10+ years in the garage of my grandparents house, I was told it would be mine one day, but never really took interest untell 2000. I soon found out what the car was, how rare it was, and that it was going to be mine. In 2001 I started working on it, I changed the oil, spark plugs, flush the block and radiator, plug wires, service the transmission, and air up the old F70 14 bias ply rubber's on it. The car cranked to life, but didn't drive it yet. 2 weeks later, I had the car put into my name and my grandmothers name, we where both owners. A year later It was all mine and didn't drive it just yet, wasnt ready.

We repalced the brake master cylinder and bleed the brakes, and I hit the road with the car, only around town, and not for long periods of time because I didn't want it to over heat, didn't know what could happen so I played it safe. I drove the car tell 2004, I only put about 2,500 miles on the car in that time, didn't drive it much, sometimes after school up and down the block and around a turn or two then back into the garage.

Here is a photo of it, the day we pulled it out of the garage, after it sat for more then 10 years, at that time it had only 69,000 miles on it or so. Original interior, and original paint was in perfect condition, no rust, no dings or dents, un-restored.

-This is how I become a Pontiac nut

Then I got it on the road.

Yes I know my tires was a little low lol

And now, here it sits yet again, in the garage of my new home, waiting tell Febuary.

Now it sits, intake manifold and carburetor off. Replacing the carb (that was the only thing not original on the car when I got my hands on it), and intake manifold needed to be presure washed really bad.

This is a list of the options this car had. Pretty well optioned car, I also have all the documents with it.

-Performance Axle
-Performance Axle Ratio (think 3.32)
-Turbo 350 3 speed
-400 CI 4BBL, 330hp / 430 tq
-A/C
-Deforsters
-Windshield antenna
-Deluxe AM/FM radio
-Stereo option
-Tachometer with clock
-Deluxe interior option
-Dark green interior
-Keylime green exterior
-Soft Ray tint (all windows)
-14X7 Rallye II wheels
-F70 14 bias ply tires
-Full size spare tire
-Chrome ring for Rallye II wheels
-Power Disc brakes
-Power Steering
-Exterior chrome trim moldings
-Hidden windshield wipers

That's All I can think of off the top of my head right now. Hope you enjoy the pics. Car will be back on the road in Febuary.

Hey man that is a awesome car. I have always love the early formula hoods. I'm glad that your grandparents kept such good care of it for you. Hope too see it out and about some day.

Great story and nice car too.
One of my earliest experiences with pontiacs was when I was given a ride in a pretty well modified '72 Formula Bird. I almost lost my lunch that thing was so quick, I'll never forget how hard that thing pinned me into the seatback.
I begged for him to slow down, LOL

Luv,
Don't let your youth get you too hasty. What you have there is WELL worth taking your time and enjoying the fact that you are very lucky indeed. How many other guys your age can tell such a story. Don't let the others make you hurry up and get it done. You can have that around for a long time and the story will only get better with age.

Red 65' gto w/389- fastest car i'd ever been in (at the time) had the same experience as that. You don't forget stuff like that from your youth. Thrill and fear both in overdrive.
