Default SW New York Drag Strips

I know it will be a very longshot, but I am trying to find any pictures of a car I own that was raced in SW New York state. Does anyone know of any drag strips that existed in the area from 1967 to 1970? I think it would be awesome to find some pictures of my car, it is a Montreoux Blue 4-speed 1967 GTO hardtop. The car had some sort of fenderwell-exit headers, and 4.33:1 gears. It was only raced from 1967 until 1970. Thank You-Jesse

Well, I don't know about SW, We're known as "Western New York" 'round deez here parts mistuh! Hamburg is about 20 minutes south from here. The only drag strip I know of around here is Lancaster Speedway (about 5 minutes east of my house). I grew up listening to the cars as my beddy bye lulluby! I'll ask my dad if he's got any pics laying around (I doubt it so don't get your hopes up). He used to drag his car up there in the late 60's (he was a mopar guy, apple fell a few feet from the tree on that one!) Holland speedway is about 30 miles east of here, I know it's a circle track, don't know if it has drags too but that one's been around a long time as well.

You may want to get in touch with Allmycarsrjunk, he's from around here too.

Good luck!
Dennis

I remember the radio annocemnets about Lancaster. Holland Speedway is closer to Hamburg but it did not have a drag strip.

The gas stations would give away decals if you asked for them. I think the radio station everyone use to listen to was WKBW.

Play the Cayuga Drag Way commercial and you will hear them mention the Brutus Firebird Funny Car.

That radio station site has a list of the songs they played in 1967. They also have a page that shows what the bumper stickers looked like. You could make a CD with the songs and the commercials and find some of the old bumper stickers and it would be just like you were there.
