Bringing this one back for the dead. Still rolling in my Big Bonnie. I’ve got brakes, fixed the intake manifold gaskets, in the process of putting a new trans filter in. I have the oddball early version that no stores stock. Leads me to believe my trans was swapped at one time, since my I’d tag says she was built in December of 67. I worked on the rear axle again, got it more centered and square to the car. Going to tear through the front end before summer and then have decisions to make as far as rebuilding the engine. I’m pretty much committed now. I’ve kept her garaged this whole time, 7 years since this thread started.
The interior is still looking new, the crap paint job is hanging in there. It’s last on my list to replace. All in all I have a good time cruising the family around in the summer. Been to a couple local car shows, and Dairy Queen with the kiddo. I’ve got a few other vehicles I’m selling and they are going to help fund the rebuild.

My new shop has a lift and even more room than I’ve ever had.

I popped the skirts back on today, now that the axle is sitting true.

I went back and re centered my axle again, it’s square and true enough for the skirts to work now. I then scraped about 6 pounds of dirt and grime off the underside and rear end yesterday. Then wire brushed and applied brush on undercoating to the frame. I figured it’s better than leaving it unprotected. You could still see hints of Pontiac blue under there.

I’m waiting on parts so I had to do something productive. I have also been spraying every nut and bolt with penetrating oil for later when I dig further. Good timing too because it’s snowing again.

Put the trans filter in this morning and it worked perfectly, I had issues going into gear when it was cold. So I drove over to the engine shop. The owner there told me not to touch the motor, that it ran too good to mess with it. He did say to install the hei. That’s next on my list with the power steering pump. I’m going to have my mechanic install the 3.36 gears and posi next week.
