'68 Firebird

Have new rubber bumpers to install towards the front hood area. Nothing was there initially so wondering proper way to install? See attached picture.

I don't know where that bumper goes or even if it's for a 1st Gen Bird.

Check out page 101 of the Ames Catalog for the two hood bumper types:

Here's mine:

Push it in. Wd40 may help or silicone spray.

I kept wondering where I had seen one of that type. Apparently that's a Camaro hood bumper.

So, I searched and found one over on the Camaro site: https://www.camaros.net/threads/hood...-issue.461495/

This was in OER packaging. I had a bag of OER parts that I got with a bunch of firebird parts. I went to Classic Industries and looked up the part number. Says for both Camaro and Firebird among others. The ones in the Ames catalog look more like what I need and obvious how to install.

I can understand a guy walking by my Firebird at a cruise night saying that the car is just like a Camaro. I cannot say the same for a parts vendor and their main manufacturers. I must have thrown away an old catalog from a major vendor that described one of their parts for "your Z28 Firebird".

I like Ames because they are Pontiac focused.

The one you’re showing is for a Camaro rear. Your “hood bumper” goes where that 5/16” stud is sticking up. It’s a 5/16” screw with a large slotted head on top with a rubber cap stretched over it and a jamb nut on the bottom. Firebird uses a triangular wedge shape front and rear. Send me your email or cell and I’ll send you a picture if you want. I’m talking 69 so not sure if 68 is the same.
