70 seat belt conversion
I think I'm going to convert my factory belts to a 3 point system. It looks like there are a few different vendors out there. Morris, Seat Belt Solutions, Classic Industries, RetroBelt, etc.
I did a quick search and didn't find anything here. Has anyone done this? If so, which belts did you use and how did it work out?

Unless I'm mistaken, ours ARE three point belts.
Don't the "points" refer to points of attachment to the vehicle/ect? There were even optional (but I have never seen pictures of them) rear shoulder belts which I suspect were the same as the front shoulder belts.

Yes. technically you are correct. Although it's two separate belts on a 70 of course, so they don't operate as easily as a single belt system would.

3-point was optional in early years, and they weren't ideal in design compared to replacement with retracter versions. The rest of the rear belts are still 2-point, regardless of how many anchor points are not being used.

I have had a couple late 72's with the newer style belts. I like them. The shoulder belt is still optional to use, but clips to the ONE front buckle. The buckles are way smaller than the big 70-71 style. I have had them and disliked the two buckles and racking on console thing. The overhead storage of shoulder belt is tidier, not a clip, but a long holding pocket. I have read here of "exploding" issue (comes undone) on newer, but have not had issue. I think when on high mileage cars, they get gummed up inside and can be slower to click latch totally. My 50k mile 72 work flawlessly. Having said all that, I would keep a 70-71 style belt TA original, or readily put back (no new drill holes)

As far as I can tell, the Morris and the Seat Belt Solutions are the same. Looks like they're made by Seat Belt Solutions and sold by Morris and a couple other places. There are two different versions, standard and a premium. The premium attaches at the roof with two bolts like factory and the standard just one, not sure if there are other differences. Ames has what looks like the standard version for only $209 and they have the GM logo push buttons. Ground up has the premium version but they are $380 for starburst buttons and a whopping $526 for GM buttons. Morris has the premium for $325 but with the startburts buttons. I'll have to make some calls next week and see what the best option is. Ames does sell GM logo buttons for $5.
Anyway, these mount to the factory locations with no mods. Obviously I'll save the original belts. Having a retractable system so you can lean forward and move around without taking the shoulder belt off will be a huge improvement.
