The body's in the booth now, so should be started on Monday.

I ordered dark saddle carpet for the interior. The light/med saddle matches the lighter sandalwood pieces better, but I don't want to add another variation of the light sandalwood color. The dark sandalwood will create a nice contrast.

It looks like main studs are unavailable until mid July, so that will hold up the engine slightly. But I think I'm all set with everything else I need.

Frank did an aluminum 535 for a guy here in town who owns a very nice looking '73 TA. This past year the guy put 15,000 miles on it. Nothing exotic...just a TB FI and a 5-speed. I don't think I'll put that many miles on mine, but I do plan to drive it a lot.

Trying to decide where the black on the firewall should stop. I'm thinking the paint on top of the dash (sandalwood) should extend down the cowl to roughly where it starts to turn horizontal/flat..not sure though.

Thanks Chris. It couldn't tell from the before photos how the factory did it.

Here's where I am with the rear armrest panels. I still need to create an access slot in the sheet metal behind the armrest for the seat belt, but the overall shape should be close. I really can't go any further until I get over to Randy's to fit it to the car...hopefully Wednesday. I'm sure I'll need to make a few minor adjustments. Wish I would have done this when I had the car here in my shop.

Need to order wiring tomorrow...after thinking through the changes I making to the circuits, the AAW Classic Update kit seems to make the most sense. I ordered Digital Dakota RTX gauges exactly 8 weeks ago...hopefully I'll be getting those soon.

Was told the AAW wiring kit will be 6 weeks or so. The list of parts I need that are unavailable or on back order for months is getting pretty long.

Yeah my list of backordered parts is growing too, not sure why some of the stuff is backordered and others not, doesn't make sense to me.

Spent some time at Randy's yesterday. The paint looks really good in person..."pure" is the best adjective I can think of...no splotchiness at all and the color looks perfect. He'll start the sanding and buffing process next week. The first step is getting it perfectly flat with 600.

Spent quite a bit of time sorting through boxes of parts and fasteners to figure out what we still need. Lots of little items like headlight adjusters, door lock rod clips, bumper bolts, etc. that I haven't thought about until now.

Going to reuse factory hardware, fasteners, etc., so that stuff got cleaned up and sent off to platers.

Sorted through more boxes today and found this Sandalwood door panel pull strap. Where it came from I have no idea...the car originally had standard interior. The good news is that it cleaned up really nice and the color matches the sample I have from Legendary. The buckles were perfect as well. The bad news is that there was only one in the box.

Randy sanded the doors and started buffing.

I plan to use most of the original emblems and badges, including the grill emblem. The original shown in the photo shined up nicely, and the little brackets and speed nuts are in good shape. Just have to paint in the letters with white, and I'm thinking the bars that link the letters should be black. Actually, I'm assuming those bars were painted black on TAs and Formulas so that they blend in with the black grill, is that right? I ask because there was no sign of any black paint in those areas (and there was still a lot of the original white paint in the letters).

A couple more days of buffing and the body should be done. Formula hoods are a work of art. The photos don't do it justice. Definitely worth the long wait.

Next week will be able to start reassembly. Still waiting on lots of parts though.

Took a ride with Randy to pick up the bolts and hardware from the platers. I didn't bother with #1 correct finishes (e.g., black zinc rather than oxide, some things that should be gold will be silver)...but most everything is original to the car and fresh in appearance.

As a side note for you Mopar/Hemi fans, the plater is located near Blake Machine in Phoenix, so I had to drive around their block to check it out...difficult to see much through the fencing, but still really cool...turns our Randy went to school with David and had some good stories.

Will probably have the interior paints mixed next week. The only deviation I'm considering is matching the light Sandalwood pieces with the material I got from Legendary. The paint from Ames (M41) is a perfect match with the original A pillars, but it's a little lighter than the Legendary vinyl. There's already a lot going on with all the textures and colors...one fewer contrast might be good. I'm going to do the roll bars in that color so they blend in as much as possible.

Also need to order glass on Monday...I'm assuming that Pilkington is still the go to? If so, does anyone have a recommendation for a vendor? I couldn't find a way to buy direct on their website.
