Hi... Just curious if you own or know of the car that it came from? Looks like it could be the original column from my old '69 GTO.

Interesting, Grant. I got this with a large lot of parts from a longtime friend of mine here in Michigan. It was from a light green 69 GTO coupe that he bought that was originally from California. It was removed at some point for a tilt column replacement. My friend sold that car several years ago. Sound familiar?

Default BINGO!!

Yes, that sounds like the same car. I lost track of it after your friend sold it. I bought the car here in CA from the original owners in 1987 with around 85K miles, it was a very nice survivor car and well optioned... except no tilt.

I would like to know where it ended up if you could ask your friend.
Here's an old link to where your friend had it for sale at one point...

Wow!!! Small world, huh? That is definitely the same car. I will talk to him and ask if he knows where it went. That was a very nice, original GTO. I wish I would have bought it. Oh, well.

If you still have the VIN, you might be able to track it down.

For sure! I had a feeling when I saw your photos of the column.
It was a great driving car, tight & solid.

I thought about that and yes the VIN is still in my head. LOL
It's also shown on that dealer's website.

Will all the respect I can use, and not knowing a lot of 69 gm vins..

Doesnt that vin look completely crooked?

Like the first 2 and the last numbers are one font and the "gto part" the 4237 look completely different and even differently spaced..

Is it just me?

That's normal for a Fremont built car.

I’ll second that on the VIN. My Fremont 69 has it the same way. I bet my car was built about a week before this one. My VIN in 242379Z104xxx. My original black license plate starts with XVD. This car shows very nice in the ad, limelight goes great with the green interior. Nicely optioned too with 4sp, AC, rally gauges/tach, PDB, pw, ps, hideaways and exhaust extensions. Seems like dealers only have overpriced junk these days, wonder what it changed hands for?
Sorry for the thread hijack
