Default Had to fix not charging.

My son took the LeMans to work this morning and, as if I didn't have enough to do, he calls me because the car died. We're fortunate that we live and work downtown, so rarely are we ever more than 15 minutes from home.
I grab my tester, a spare battery that we keep on a tender, and head over. Thankfully he was able to push it into a parking lot. Haha. It pays to be 6'4" and 250 pounds! Anyway, I put the tester across the battery terminals and it was at 12 amps. No charge. I know that the next step is to determine whether the ALT or VR has failed, but I thought screw it, just get both. Until recently, that was a pretty tall order, but we found this little independent auto supply place thats about 1/2 hour away and they are amazing. Sure enough, we called them up and were able to pick up both same day. Got home and switched them out: 14.31 on the meter. Thank goodness. What a day, never mind what I was supposed to be doing.
You know, when someone sidles up to me and asks if the car is for sale, you know the ones, they don't know anything about these cars except that they're cool. I like to tell them a story like this.

Yeah, and if it's got primer spots or anything like that, they think it should be a coupla hundred bucks.
You can't beat those old mom and pop parts stores. They are a dying breed. We have one here that the owner inherited from his father. Has the old swivel stools and a bar to put your foot on at the counter. The owner is 87...that's right, he inherited it from his father. His two sons do most of the day to day there now and they are about my age.. 60-ish.. His wife even ran the counter until a few years ago. I've been in there and said I needed a set of brake shoes for a 1969 Buick let's say...He'll call out the number without even looking and tell somebody what shelf it's on.
