yep, that is exactly the plan and what was discussed with them. He left behind a good size family which I also have a history with so really looking forward to sharing this car with them as well.

This is quite the opportunity - not many of us get a chance to memorialize a friend of ours from the hobby like this.

I’m very happy this car ended up in your hands and wish you the best. I hope you keep the car open to the family for special events if requested.

Well if there is still interest... went back for the parts this weekend. Off to a good start with a GM NOS Endura bumper still in the box.

That's really cool! That bumper was made about 1 mile from where I live now! Former Inland Division plant in Vandalia, OH They made all the Endura bumpers there, some steering wheels, the Corvette plastic rear leaf spring, and later air bag components. Now some Chinese company is making batteries in the old shell of a plant. An NOS Endura bumper is a fantastic part to have. Best of luck with the car. Your a lucky guy.

Is that the same Inland Company that made the worst shifters to be placed in an automobile?

I got a bunch of parts with my vert too. Seemed like these owners new someday they would want to restore the car(s). I got allot of nos trim and rear quarters. Surprised he didnt get fenders too but thankfully those are still around.
Does your car still have its trunk mat?

Yes, Inland was a captive division of GM, like Rochester, Saginaw, Muncie, Guide, and others. The shifters were crap. It took Hurst/Campbell to show the world how to make a proper external linkage shifter that was reliable and low cost. I do not know if my specific local plant made the shifters. The plant I mentioned mostly dealt with composite materials, not machined metal parts.

Thanks for the continued interest. The current plan is put it on the road this season. We have the car running and have had it around the block. I need to source a cheap set of temporary 14" tires to get through the season. After that, a frame off restoration after I sell my '70 and make some room.

More parts, - here are some:

Do you think the engine needs work??? (You may NOT be really able to tell, until you get some miles on it...)

Go to Walmart.com. Plug in the tire size you need. All the tires that size, that are available to them, will pop up. They don't obviously stock all of them, but will ship them in, freight free, after you make a connection for a purchase. Not likely to find much cheaper. I'd be scared of a source cheaper than WM, some may have some "old" stock of 14's, that could turn into a nightmare, if you ran them and had a failure. It's pretty cool that hte car has disc brakes, AND 14 inch wheels, not a terribly common thing...(I think...)
