Default Correct temperature sender for a 69

GTO, anyone know the part number.

This is for an idiot light, not a temp gauge.

There seem to be half a dozen or so that might be right

Do you really think it's numbers matching all original?"

this may or may not help but I was having guages rebuilt and the guy told me that the ohm rating of the sender is whats important not so much voltage. and a very good ground ...as in no sealer or tephlon tape. metal y metal.

When I replaced thye idiot light sender on my '68 I could not find a sender at Napa for the pontiac. I did find one listed for an Oldsmobile. Worked fine. Sorry I don't know the part number.

no prob. some of these companies have a lot, but not all have an easy search site. inline tube has it, like a lot of other little parts they have. man, a lot of these companies if they could get real user friendly search set up for their catalog would not have to list on ebay like they do.

yea. I just did a search thru kragen, autozone and pep brothers and what a customer unfriendly nightmare. crearly the websights are desined behind closed doors by a committee of people who take there car to have it worked on. Pep was worst of all.

NAPA was pretty good. CHA-CHING.

Default Temperature switch

68-69 All #1993444 Switch (248 Degree) (Exc. Aux. or Rally)
70 All V/8 #6490384 Switch, Eng. Thermo & Dist.
Interesting under the picture of 69-70 auxiliary gauges it shows the group #1.150. But in that group it does not show the same part number for the temperature switch for the 69-70? Can post that group of part numbers that cover all models 59 to 75 if you need it.

Do the sender part numbers cross reference? Not having best of luck looking for a 69 Firebird rally gauge temp sender with spade connector...

My guess is that you have a water switch transducer Part number 6490440 that uses the spade terminal. Possible someone converted your cluster from the warning light (with the spade terminal) to the gauge package (that uses the round terminal). It is possible that you current connector has the indent in the plastic to fit either switch. Or someone just replaced the original and put in the wrong switch.

Thanks for the clarification as I didn't realize the rally gauge set up had a button head sender. In my case I currently have a factory idiot light set-up and looking at a rally gauge conversion set up (see link below) which includes a re-engineered circuit board. This is advertised as direct adaptable to a idiot light harness but one needs to use the rally gauge sending units for water and oil.
