Default Radiator overflow recovery tank

I would like to install a recovery tank on my 64 tempest.

Just wanted to see what you guys might have come up with. I know they were not a factory option but was hoping to see some ideas for something that looks like it belongs there.

Are you trying to just capture any overflow? Or are you wanting it to perform like modern cars?

Heres one from a mid 70s Nova. Tucks up under the passenger fender. Available as a repro. Buy the matching radiator cap for recovery systems.

Both I suppose.

I read a few times that your not suppose to fill to the top there should be like 3" from the top. My level is always like 4" or lower in the radiator. This radiator is not stock its some dirt cheap summit one. It does have a 16lb cap. I do plane to change it at some point to one of the 15" stock style Aluminum ones. But for now I would just like to see if the coolant level with stay to the top if I have a recovery tank.

There a few generic ones I see and a few more fancy aluminum ones. No space to put it on the outside the rad support. I like the plastic one since I can see the level. Just looking for something ideas.

I was going to do this for my FB but now thinking of putting my cocktail shakers back in. This might work for the Tempest. I will have to look.

If it isnt overheating i wouldnt worry about it. At one time i was going to repurpose an old wiper fluid reservoir to keep it looking factoryish. Now i just fill it and let it dump the first time and dont look back.

I am adding this to my '68 Lemans. Wanted something I could run along the side of the radiator, and not be too bulky. It is long, and thin and is about the same length as the radiator. Should look like it belongs and dress things up.

Got mine at Speedway Motors. They have a nice variety.

When I used to race the car I installed this tank from Summit. Blends in somewhat.
