thank you VERY much for this!!

My guess was purely based on the two part numbers (an apparent mismatch between the part and the box).

I've got a couple NOS and three used 40838 pumps on the shelf.

Sounds like the general consensus is that these should be rebuilt with new internals that are ethanol compliant before use? Correct?

I am trying to get my hands on one or two Spectra SP1304MP fuel pumps. I have read all the posts and that one seems the best match for a 70 TA RAIII.

However, right now, everywhere on the internet, all the sellers and retailers do not seem to have this fuel pump in stock! Could it be Covid has struck the fuel pump supply chain as well???

Does anyone have a lead on some SP1304MP's?? Or I would be interested in a good used one and I could spend the $$$ and get it rebuilt, as stated in some of the other posts.

Thanks in advance for any help...

I have seen it pop up from time over the last year when I looked;
Just not on Rockauto for a long time.

The best I can suggest is looking for stuff like this on eBay:

Reviving this post, what is the current go to part number for a 70 RA3 fuel pump?

I found an original and had Fred restore it. Basically followed my friend John. I also got a repop 1972 version they are tall can and will work fine but the inlet lines are slightly different. I haven't seen an exact match and would like to see one and buy one. But not sure if they make it any more.
