There is quite alot on the internet about this and the 6l80, I think it's worth researching.
Good Luck
Did this mod to my 2017 went from running 190 to 150 in hot South Florida summer. Around $50.00 for part, total of 30 minutes to change it out.

Bing search says GM released a lower-temp valve... interesting! I'll call the dealer back and talk to them about this:

I have a call back to dealer to find out if my truck falls in the scope of this service bulletin:

I don't remember him mentioning this but perhaps they are well aware and have done more than a few....

Thanks Karl!

Like I said, I have a call into dealer to see if they are selling me a lower-temp valve.

If it's a bolt-in and accessible, I may also consider doing this myself.

More to learn...

Would one of you gentlemen who have the "Shutters" be able to post a picture of them? I may add them to my older trucks with a mechanical cable type control for those sub zero trips where my Mishimoto Cooler keeps the fluid too cold!

God Bless

Bill..
This is the motorized assembly for my 2018 - for sale on eBay and I'm sure lots of sources. They appear to be available for earlier generations also.

I wish I had your "too cool" problem!

Thank You Sir,

I am embarrassed to say...I never thought to look on Ebay! LOL

That looks to be an easy install on an older model, although I am getting closer to retirement from the road after 40 years. I have to admit I was quite shocked when after installing the Mishimotos on both trucks, I had trouble keeping the temp hot enough to trigger the trans converter when the outside temp was below 10 degrees!

God Bless
