Default Rockers are back and look great.

Now it's down to bolting on the Manifolds, loading the Cam, and firing it.

Thumbs up CAM CHECK

OK, now we're getting down to the end. I got sidetracked (again) with planning a run stand but back to the build.
Looked over and checked all specs, if all goes well I'll load the cam into its house and move along with this engine.

Thumbs up OK I think I have a plan to run it...

A good friend had some old engine carts so I took one and made a few mods and think it will work.

Jeff, how and where did you secure the engine to lift it safely?

John,
I used two Engine Hoist Brackets for the V8 and on the PS, used the bolt hole in the head for the fuel line clip, and on the DS the hole for the vac line bolt.

More than adequate.
I found the best lift point on the chain to be just forward of the carb.

Default ONE FORWARD, TWO BACK AS THEY SAY.

What a day, Decided to jump back into this build since I had my Flywheel all dolled up.
The first issue was the rails interfered with the installation.
No big deal, so I break out the hoist lift the engine and move it forward a bit.
With the flywheel now installed I grabbed the starter and yup rails and leg interfered with install

Hoist it up again and change over to a Dolly with blocks.
How I can install the starter, But wait still a bit close with the blocking

Great, so I hoist this b!tch again and reset the engine one more time

OK enough playing around, I hook up a battery, remote start trigger, and Oil Gauge, and attempt to check the oil PSI.
Cranking and cranking but still no oil

Remove the gauge fitting and crank some more no oil comes out
I then pull the distributor and galley plug on the head, made a drive tool for my drill, and started spinning the pump.

You guessed it, friggen oil everywhere

Clean Up Isle 5!

HOUSTON WE HAVE PRESSURE!

I had to stop at this point and will regroup in an attempt to fire it up.

Too much fun

Red face So close.

Was really trying to get this up and running before Christmas but Mother Nature threw us a curve

Going to make a rack for a Radiator and then we should be good to go.

Exclamation STARTER MODIFICATION

Also just for grins, I decided to use a Chebby Starter rather than the Rebuilt OE I have for this build.
I just wanted to show how simple it is to clearance the Drive Housing / Cone to make it work.

Jeff is that a 69 Cam Sprocket I see? If so your cam is out of time by 180 degrees, it should be pointed down not up like the 66-68 Sprockets.

I'm no OHC expert, but won't turning the crankshaft 1 turn fix this problem? May have to re-time the distributor or move the plug wires at the distributor 3 positions left or right depending on your political leanings.

Correct,
knowing I had a stack of sprockets I went digging and found what I need.

And if anyone needs a '69 Sprocket LMK, for some reason I have several.
