Johnta1 is Very Active towards dealer codes and names.
Many times seen him take the time to even ask folks in various threads who didn't attach full copies of their Invoices - if they would provide him the dealer code / name from the lower portion of their Invoice.

Thats an extra mile to me.

Seems like back in the late 80's or early 90's Smoke Signals had a blurb about dealer code catalog(s) in their library.

I'm not sure if all the POCI content and archives went to the Pontiac Museum - or where the stuff is held.

Mike Noun has some access to the stuff at the museum sometimes.
Not sure where that might take us eventually , or possibly , on a fuller listing.

PHS has some source of data - but folks regularly come on here asking for the info because PHS could not supply it with their purchase. Naturally that involves the BHC's from 1968 - older.

Taking nothing away from the efforts of others, I concur with Heybuck- a searchable, online central depository for PMD dealer codes would be beneficial. I know in compiling my own database, that links between different dealers show up when you can search by either street or town, or simply by being able to view the list in its entirety.

On my dealer page you can hit the button to get all the dealers.
(so many per page basically)

You can input the state abbreviation to get all that are in that state.
Or by city. (some city names in different states though)

Or by zone.
Each input can be searched individually or with combinations.

But I would be very happy to see a full list of all the Pontiac dealers from anyone.

Ahh- only the search function seems to work on my browser- will check on another computer. That sounds excellent.

Curious- do you have an approximate count on how many dealers you list?

I have a friend who owns a base model 1970 Firebird that was sold new in Sacramento CA. The only item on the PHS is the evap/emission system, the car has no other options. I was surprised to see the evap on the PHS since it was required on all cars sold new in CA. The car is a straight six with a three speed on the column. It's the only column shifted manual trans bird I've ever seen.

You've been busy, John!

I'm still entering data, but currently at about 1300, with another 500 dealers without numbers. I started way back in 1989 when all we had was this thing called 'published ads' and 'letters', but when I saw the Ultimate GTO listing once I plugged in online, I shelved my effort. Anyone know why Mattingly stopped updating his list?

What is the 'settled science' on Divisional dealer codes? Each Division has their own list... so one has to be careful RE source material for dual brand dealerships, correct?

07 631 - PMD Retail Store, 65 University Dr, Pontiac MI, 69 Judge (UltimateGTO)
07 631 - Vern Parcell Buick Inc, Flint MI, 70 GSX (orig window sticker)

23 108 - Doten Pontiac Inc, 4145 Broadway, Oakland CA, 70 Judge (UltimateGTO)
23 108 - [ ] Buick, 1412 Broadway, Placerville CA, 68 Skylark (build sheet partially obscured by photobucket logo)

Do you have a way of posting them or have a database of them?

Wondering if there are any not in mine?

I had a long list of Buick dealers which many were also Pontiac dealers.
As was said the different divisions had their own numbers.
The zone numbers were also different in some cases.
(Chevy for sure)

I don't know when this database was created, but it may help in locating dealers not in your list.
http://www.autodealerdirectory.us/
Search by state and make.

Thanks Mike!
Interesting link.

Too bad they don't have the dealer zone/codes, but they would have to have them for each division if in the name I suppose.

I think it might? There's an ID number, I'm seeing WA numbers ranging from 84xxx-85xxx. CA from 64xxx-67xxx. Did GM revamp their dealer codes at some point?

That is the ID#'s for the website database.
2,916 dealers listed for CA and 581 dealers listed for WA.

It's in an Excel file. Still entering/finding data, another circa 100 dealers added since last post; 4300. Codes comes much slower. I feel it'll crest 5000 at the rate I'm still finding them.
If most/all of your 3200 have codes, I doubt I have any codes you don't, but who knows. Also collecting dealer pics whenever I can find them. When I feel I've found what I can, I will make the info available. Still haven't been able to check your site out via this computer...
