Thumbs up POWER BRAKE BOOSTER LINE.

This really doesn't apply to everyone, but I have power brakes and needed to secure a fitting so I could keep my vacuum line in the same configuration.
The Q-Jet has a smaller threaded provision than the AVS.

It took a few visits to the local box stores but eventually found the fitting I needed.

I think we're in the home stretch.

Thumbs up AIR BREATHER SPACER

OK picked up the spacer fits perfectly on the carb.
Once I have it installed I'll determine the needed drop and fab up a Faux Pancake Breather.

Thumbs up Couldn't have gone any better.

Jumped in around 8am and was firing it up around 11:30. Had to stop at about 9 for Sunday pancakes Otherwise everything fell right into place.

Still need to workout a choke and play with the throttle cable travel. Even though I'm getting near full on the linkage it looks like I have a bit more I can gain by taking in some slack. Was amazed how fast it fired up and once warmed I took it out and could feel how different the response was and smooth the acceleration was.

Just some fine tuning and away we go...

Jeff
I have to say that your install looks great - as clean as a factory engineered setup!
And it sounds like it is going to start and run better to boot.
Let us know how you like it after getting some more seat time.
Chris

Default Finishing details.

Thanks Chris.
That was my main goal after a long delay to go this route I had studied several other installs and was concerned about the final appearance based on my observations.

This is why it was a bit drawn out. I wanted to make all attempts to match and/or at the least look as close to a stock configuration as possible.

My only point for documenting all this is for anyone else dragging their feet as I was, so they will see how simply at all came together.

I have all intensions of following up after some real-time use and will share the good and/or bad.

My next step is to remove the fugly tag. See about removing the built in electric choke provisions so I cam workup a stock choke and then lowering a replacement pancake breather by cutting down the spacer to match the factory height off the Cam House. The one in the last pic is my OE and I wouldn't even think of cutting it.

The OE Carb and related parts will be once again gone through and used on my full numbers correct '66 Sprint project engine.

I'll keep everyone posted.

Cheers.

Thumbs up NEAR COMPLETE...

1967 Q-Jet Pancake Breather Base came in and after all the thinking it would need to be raised, it dropped in almost right at OE height.
