While many inventions and products are well received and prove useful and successful have you ever thought about the ones that bug you or wish were never produced?

I have two that come to mind.

Perhaps you agree or have some you feel fit this category.

Whoever invented the peanuts not the ones you eat but the ones people put in packages. That is one that fits the category. Never open a box that contains them in a windy situation!

Another one I really detest is those fragrance Christmas trees that car owners buy and hang in their car to over power whatever odor they are trying to over power. Back in the early 1990s I was buying 1986-1987 Turbo Regals (bought over 300 of them) one in particular was a real nice Grand National.

The owner must no had any sense of smell as he had over 150 of those Christmas trees in the car hanging off the mirror the radio knob the glove box knob in the trunk anywhere and everywhere. The ones hanging on the glove box knob had actually rubbed color green into the grey glove box door.

The car was in mint condition. I bought it but the smell was so bad I had to store the car away from our house as the smell was that strong. I eventually sold the car to someone who did not mind the smell. A true story.

So, what product or invention in your every day life you feel we could very well do without?

Another one just came to my mind member a number of years ago can't recall what car(s) brand or models but they had an automatic seat belt retractor that would slide along the edge of the roof line to make sure you would buckle up? I guess that proved to be not popular as you don't see that format anymore.

A ford escort and a toyota camry had thoses. Cheap made car parts that cost a lot.

Cell phones. Those morphed into so many hand held devices that some people cannot go 10 minutes without.
And how did we survive so many centuries without them?

Diet food and drink. Fat azzes ordering 3 big macs with super sized fries and a diet drink. About 3/4 of the medicine made. Some of that stuff will kill you or make you have something worse than what you are trying to cure. I agree with the peanuts, but the box they came in has to be one of the best inventions ever. I hear the box is now in the toy hall of fame. It figures it had to be invented by the Chineese. I guess they knew some day they would need it to ship all of their junk here.

Had a '92 Tempo with 243,000 miles on it. NEVER had a problem( except harmonic balancers that had to be replace at 90,000 miles) with it or the automatic shoulder harness.

I'd call that marketing genius. If a demographic is going to be so stupid as to pay money for something you can find along the road, then I say "a fool and his money are soon parted".

Every time I see one of those electric barbecue brushes where the end turns I think, Are you Kidding me? But you know what? People will buy them for others for Christmas they will get used 5 times and thrown away.
They make too much ridiculous stuff these days, I could probably make a long list.
I think Christmas should be for kids only, And then we could solve half the pollution problems.

X2 on Obamacare. And my least favorite invention, though right up there with the leaf blower, is the super bass woofer speakers that low-lifes install in there cars so the whole world can feel the 'bump'.

Anybody else remember when the experts predicted that we would only need to work 25-30 hours a week, because the computers were going to make us so much more efficient?



Now it takes me that much time just to manage all my emails....
