The RPM CNC chamber E heads #61515 are $2400 everywhere I look. That seems to be what Speedmaster copied. I think $2200 gets you the old chambers. And the Speedmasters have gone up to $1,988. So they must be selling OK.

I run my seats pretty narrow, Old school, the way Joe Mondello taught me. Intake even on a street engine, about .040" wide off the outside of the valve face about .020" Exhaust I move inward some, about .030-.040 off the outside edge. .050-.060" wide maximum. It does depend on the shape and thickness of the margin as you know. It just looked like those were way to the stem side of the face. The pic was kind of hard to see. I guess the current trend is to go a little wider now?

I agree, the speedmaster heads look solid out of the box, cleanup would help I would think. I am moving and would sell the new in box set that I have for $1599 shipped if anyone was wanting them today vs waiting for thanksgiving.

Speedmasters have helicoils for rocker studs and exhaust manifolds.
NEW PROBLEM, though! I started to install the SM's on the motor I'm building. One head went on without issue. The other, however, I had several bolts that were "tight". I had chased and thoroughly cleaned the block's bolt holes, so new that was not the problem. The issue is the heads, some of the bolt holes are drilled a tad off-center. When I removed the head and looked into the bolt hole, you can see where the threads of the bolts were contacting the wall of the hole. At least the contact caused witness marks, so I know where to file. I'll try to post pictures later.

Quality control is what worries me today with parts. The last new intake I installed..the bolt holes were way off.

I have found the majority of edelbrock intakes I've used (new) needed to have the intake flange milled. |
