Default Anybody use Battery Cables USA??

Looking to get some new battery cables for my 70 GTO restomod. Although the drivetrain is numbers matching, I've installed RARE oversized manifolds, so routing is a little different than stock. M & H says the positive cable should be 42" (4 ga) and the negative at 27" (2 ga)

Instead of M&H's reproductions for RA applications (I hate the spring clips/terminals), I was thiking about just get a Painless wiring kit (1 ga)...https://www.summitracing.com/parts/prf-40113

During my search, I ran across Battery Cable USA that will custom fabricate the exact lengths (in either 2 or 1 gauge) with terminals of my choice (top post and 3/8" eyelet/lug). They look good and are inexpensive (1 ga = $37 for both cables and 2 ga = $33).

https://www.batterycablesusa.com/2-g...able-with-ends

So...anyone have experience with Battery Cables USA??

Per their website:

Made in USA with full AWG sized copper conductor made from 99.9% pure annealed electrolytic copper (ETP, OFC). The insulation and jacket compounds are specially formulated to stay flexible even in cold weather and carry a -49C to 105C temperature rating. The jacket is resistant to chemicals, water, abrasions, oil, sunlight and has a color coded dual extrusion jacket with a white inner insulation which would show any damage to the outer cable more clearly. This cable is rated up to 600 Volts and meet the requirements of SAE J1127 and J378. The copper lugs (ring terminals) as well as the copper top post positive and negative battery terminals feature a tin plating which is resistant to corrosion and it superior to bare copper terminals.

The copper connectors are crimped to the battery cable using the UL approved crimping tool as specified by the manufacturer. We then seal the connection point with adhesive heat shrink tubing in the color to match the cable. The heat shrink has a melt-able glue lining to help seal your cable from air and moisture.

I bought all the components to make my own from them. Reasonably priced, good quality, and shipped the next day. Happy customer.

I relocated my battery to the trunk, so I bought the flexible 0 gauge wire, battery posts, lugs, 90 degree starter terminals, heat shrink, and post covers. Whole nine yards.

Also bought an a terminal crimper from Amazon : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

So...is the OEM eyelet/lug hole size 11/32"??

Looks like only 5/16" or 3/8" available, so thinking 3/8" to be safe. Not sure that 1/16" would make much difference either way.

A downside to Chinese cable crimpers is that the dies are usually metric, not AWG.

Yeah...I saw them too.

When I completed their estimate form for custom cables with same gauge and terminals as Battery Cables USA, the price was more than double. Can't quite see the reason for that substantial of a difference.

IDK if thats the same one Ive used, but I have used an Ebay service that does custom lengths for reasonable prices. Used them three times now, and have been a fan of every one.

Why are they not spec'd at the same size? Same amount of current flowing in both.

Good question that I had asked M&H. They stated that it sometimes happens and might be due to the ram air insulator tube that the cable runs through.

I'm not sure if that's the reason though, because the difference in diameter between 2 gauge and 4 gauge (per Battery Cables USA specs) is only @ .07" (.51" versus .44"). I would think both should fit through the tube.

Actually, I am contemplating going with 1 gauge for both negative and positive, since the diameter is stated as .54" dia. I think even with the mesh covering I plan on using, a tenth of an inch great diameter than 4 gauge shouldn't make a difference in fitment within the tube (inside diameter is .75").

I know it's overkill, but why not?

So...I placed the order for the cables from Battery Cables USA yesterday at 1:46pm. At 2:05pm I receive an email that they've shipped. USPS says they will arrive tomorrow.

Now that's what I call service!

I placed an order for the extreme battery cables 1-0 on Monday and received Wednesday(yesterday) - they are very nice and flexible!
