Default Inventive Sound System Ideas for Convertibles

Hey all,

Looking to improve the sound system in a '68 convertible Firebird. The factory rear speaker system I've read isn't very good. Don't want to put speakers in the rear armrest either. Anybody come up with a good solution for convertibles?

I remember my brother had Jensen box speakers in his 69 conv. We put RCA jacks on the wires so they could be unplugged. They just sat on the rear seats.

Put small black box speakers on top of the rear armrests. I used velcro to secure them.

No radio. I like the sound of the wind and the expensive Borla exhaust.

Kick panel speakers would be easily reversible if you save your old parts.

i recently bought a JBL Charge 4 bluetooth speaker

i set it in the backseat and play music through my phone. not the same as a pair of good speakers but surprisingly good.

i like it because i can put it into whichever car i'm driving and can leave original radios in place

That's what I have now but hoping for a better solution

Have speakers in the kick panels now along with two small box speakers sitting in the back seat.

If you install a good amp and get some good speakers in the kick panels and put speaker boxes in the trunk facing the rear seats you will get solid sound. Take the car to a local car stereo place and have them give you some ideas. Then either pay them thousands of dollars or take the idea and do it yourself.
