I've got a manifold with the following numbers(as far as I can read)and I'm trying to get info on it. I dont have a restoration book yet to decipher them. Anyways here they are and their location. Because of age these were hard to read so I could be off.
18436572 below "Firing Order" 6778816 (?) next to Carb placement location E276 near water neck front of 2468 firing order numbers manifold 1357 What year and model was this for? thanks!!

Hi and welcome to the board!!,
I was able to decode the E276 as cast date June 27, 1966. I only have GTO restoration books, so am not able to say what it came on. I am going to look at a 67 Lemans tomorrow with 326 2 barrel, will get numbers off that for you. Is that a 2 or 4 barrel intake? Hope ya enjoy that car and this board, and again, welcome!! Later, Doug

Thanks for the date code Bigpop, it gives me a starting reference.
Although I cant find codes for a 66 gto anywhere, I'm assuming this would be the manifold for one. Doug, this is a 4 barrel manifold that I want to put in my 67 Lemans. I've got an Edelbrock carb on the way to match up to it. I just want to make sure what I have will go on my car and also since I need to order gaskets I wanted to make sure I knew what make and year the manifold was for(although its probably more important to match it to the heads) Side question-- since the water pump is against the front of the manifold, whats the best way to seperate the 2?

If the casting number is a typo and really is 9778816 instead of the first digit being a 6; then it is a four barrel manifold from a 1965 Pontiac engine, and should be a "square-bore" design. In which case the last digit of the date code should be a 5. Sometimes these things can be difficult to read. A pencil eraser can be useful. Also, making a pencil rubbing of the casting can be useful. Jon.
