Looked at a 27,000 mile original one owner Tri-Power 4 speed 66 that had a yellow spring on it.

with the Yellow Spring and THREE 66 Tri-Power GTOs with the Blue Spring, and as I posted in the beginning of this thread assumed the owner swapped springs at some point. Tom V.

I found in the 1967 MPC spring #9784823 for 1966 T/8 and 1967 T/8 exc, cruise control.
1963-65 T/8 uses spring #544922. 1967 T/8 w/cruise control uses spring #9789460. In later MPC´s the 9784823 were superseded by 9789460. If the 1967 T/8 exc, cruise control uses a blue spring so would 1966 GTO Tripower? And if, is the 9789460 blue also? |

I wonder if it varied by plant. I know that both mine and 60sstuff Fremont built cars came with the blue spring.

My original Fremont tri-power return spring in post #10 is most-likely original. May be a "plant-thing".

Just a thought that came to me: If a spring vendor won a contract for a blue spring for one plant and the spring proved out to be acceptable on several applications besides Tri-Power cars, then the possibility exists that the Blue Spring would migrate to other plants in some fashion. Especially if the design could be used for other induction systems with say a "carb extension" change on a given carb. Tom V.

Wasn´t all engines assembled at the Pontiac plant and then shipped to car assembly plants?
