69 3:90 xk posi
anyone know the part number on the rear end housing for a 3:90 10 bolt posi out of a 69 gto? thanks for any info, have looked all over and cannot find it! is 9788647 correct?

do you know what i have then? I am supposed to have a correct 3:90 posi for 69 but the casting number on the housing is 9788647, it is supposed to read xk but i cannot make out the x but i can the k, did I get burned?

Maybe a '67 or 8? Is the first letter a Z?

cannot make out the first letter, can only read the k, that is why i was trying to match up a casting number that would tell the year!

JEEZ................ i think you have the same rear i have, does it have A body suspension?????? as thats a 67 bird rear HOUSING with a body suspension tubes.
I dont know why................. above that code is a date code. do you have a N in the center section snout you should. You can spin the axel 1 revolution & count how many times the yoke spins... where did you get & how was it advertised... i kinda got screwed on this one & it wasnt cheap at all.................

came with a restoration project I bought, the car needs complete resto but the rear end was all painted up and pretty and supposed to be all rebuilt, yes it does have some numbers right by the stamp on the axle tube, I will spend more time sanding it down and checking it out but it sure sounds like the one you had, can you give me more details or can I give you a call? where did that rear end go? it was a major factor of why i bought the car to have a correct rear end, thanks

#9788647 is a 1967 and #9795084 is a 1969.

that is what i have found out in my searches so far, 67 part number sounds like i got screwed unless someone has some other info that could prove different, but i would guess it is very unlikely that they would carry over the the center section of a rear end from 67 and put 69 axle tubes on it, any input?

the date code is what it is 326th day of the year so its a late 67 rear i have a GTO book here & will look up the code to confirm if its a GTO rear but all my searches came up with a bird rear

I googled the casting number and came up with 67 gto? this is goofy!

im came up with the same but there is a bird thread aswell with the same code. There must be a thread i started a while back & someone posted a site where you can print off all the years & codes...... & too my knowledge that code isnt on the GTO list.
if its a 67 GTO rear it still will retain some value. im gonna put a thread in 67 GTO section & see what happens there
