Default Ames chin spoiler help needed

Any reason that the Ames Performance repop chin spoiler fits so bad? Am I doing something wrong in the install? Or is the fitment really that bad? I can't even get the drivers side end bolt to line up and be used. Its a horrible fitment in every way possible. I asked the sales rep for install instructions or pictures or anything to help and no luck. I bought the install hardware and again, no luck. I don't have another example locally to look at. I couldn't even tell you if this mounts to the lower fascia panel or radiator support. Its a mess to look at and I am not happy with it at all. Anyone have an idea of how this fits up to the car? Many some pictures? Any help would be greatly apprectaed at this point. Thank you.

I know I can't help you but someone else might be able to if they knew what kind of car it was?

In the daylight I can get some photos of the spoiler so you can see how embarrassing this thing looks. I considered taking a heat gun to it but I figured I would ask first to make sure it wasn't mounted incorrectly first. It would have been nice for Ames to include photos or instructions for installation. If these were everyday cars and you could just look at another car with the spoiler on it, or one was installed frequently at a local shop that would be one thing but as a vendor you can't assume that all of your customers have restored numerous GTO's to automatically know how the spoiler is installed.

Im not sure, I know the lights are different between the 69 and 70 lower valences. But I think Ames only lists one chin spoiler.

I just checked the catalog and it is only listing this spoiler for 1970 and it is the only chin spoiler listed.

That may be worth looking in to.

I also like the bigger chin spoilers on the Mach 1 Mustangs and 69 302 Camaros. 70's Trans Am racing style.

maybe the person that makes them will see your post and chime in, or maybe if you do a search "Chin Spoiler" it may come up.
I know he does nice work and mine just bolted right up like it belonged there.
Good Luck on your find.

With the Judge front spoiler in 70 there are additional holes in the front valance to bolt it up. Here's an older post showing them: http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...alance+spoiler

hmm was thinking of ordering one for my 70, glasstek also makes a fiberglass one. My car is a street/strip deal, I wonder if anyone else is having problems? I like the look of these.

No it didn't come across that way at all Greg, its just a fact. I was a dumbass for leaving out pertinent information and it would have been a useless thread without your assistance.
Thank you for the compliment. I am thrilled to finally own a 70 GTO. It's been a wish since childhood.

I made the metal chin spoiler that fits 68-69 GTO and LeMans, they do not fit 70s however I could work on a prototype for this application.
