Default Hydra-Matic tools and books

Now that my ’57 GMC 102 V8 Hydra-Matic has met its demise, I’ve decided to sell my collection of Hydra-Matic books and tools. I’ll start by trying to sell all of them as a single package, but may consider splitting them into a tools package and a book package later.
Here is a list of what I have:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tools in my Do It Yourself Dual-Range Hydra-Matic band and throttle lever adjustment kit:
Snap-On brand AT-50 External Band Adjustment tool. Equivalent to Kent-Moore J-2681
New Britain brand AH-11 Internal Front Servo Gauge. Equivalent to KM J-1693. With original instructions that came with the tool.
New Britain brand AH-12 Internal Rear Servo Gauge. Equivalent to KM J-5071. In original box (missing one end) with original instructions.
New Britain ATL-2 Throttle Arm Gauge. Has settings for Old, Caddy, Pontiac, Lincoln, Hudson, Nash, Kaiser and Willis for 1946 through 1955.
A copy of “The Hydra-Matic Transmission 1946-1955 On-The-Car Adjustment Service Manual” that explains how to use these tools. I also scanned this book and sent it to Safari Larry to put on his web site here: http://www.pontiacsafari.com/L1Garag...ic_1946-55.pdf
A ¼” pin used to lock some HM linkages for easier adjustment.
This “kit” has been loaned out (no cost, just a deposit that was cheerfully refunded each time) to a number of people adjusting their own Hydra-Matics.
End of tools:
Start of books:
I have an original “The Hydro: Building the Hydro for Street and Strip” that has some water staining and the cover is a bit beat up, but all 150 pages are there and are very readable. Published in 1963, this is the rarest book in the collection. 150 pages, about half of which have to do with modifications for Hot Rodding. Cover picture at http://talk.classicparts.com/photos/...dium/Strip.jpg
“Hydra-Matic Transmission Operation and Maintenance” GMC truck X-5706. 222 Pages. Published in 1957. Front cover torn loose. Although truck specific, much applies to any Dual-Range Hydra-Matic. While GM cars quit using the Dual-Range Hydra-Matic in 1956, GMC and Chevrolet trucks continued to use them through 1962. Cover picture at http://talk.classicparts.com/photos/...ium/X-5706.jpg
“Hydra-Matic Overhaul Practices for GMC Trucks” X-5844 Published in 1959. 71 pages. Designed for shop use by overhaul technicians. Probably the least interesting of all the books. Cover picture at http://talk.classicparts.com/photos/...lPractices.jpg
“Hydra-Matic Drive Supplementary Information for United Motors Service Division” Rev 55 (1955?). 50 pages. A lot of the same stuff the other books have, but a good section on T.V lever identification and T.V. lever adjustment that I haven’t found in other books. Cover picture at http://talk.classicparts.com/photos/...plementary.jpg
“The Hydra-Matic Transmission Diagnosis, Adjustment, Repair NAPA” 1956. Very well organized troubleshooting guide. 156 pages. Cover photo at http://talk.classicparts.com/photos/...edium/NAPA.jpg
“Hydra-Matic Transmission Service Manual” 260 pages with the last few pages and the back cover MISSING. 1956. Detailed overhaul instructions. Cover photo at http://talk.classicparts.com/photos/.../PaulMarsh.jpg
“AMI Hydramatic Manual 1946-1955” 165 pages. Very good shape. Interesting sections not found in other books include “multiple purpose tools you can build” and “throttle linkage without special tools”. Cover photo at http://talk.classicparts.com/photos/...medium/AMI.jpg
“Servicing Automatic Transmissions”. 169 pages. This hard cover book is pre Dual-Range Hydra-Matic and was published in 1950. It HAS NO TECHNICAL INFO ABOUT DUAL-RANGE HYDRA-MATIC trannies, but does have a bunch of tech info on the original (pre-1952) HM trannies that were used in Caddy, Olds, Pontiac and Lincoln cars. Cover picture at http://talk.classicparts.com/photos/.../Servicing.jpg
“hydra-matic parts catalog” 1957 edition. Around 200 pages. This is a GM catalog that covers HM trannies from 1940 through early 1957, including all Dual-Range HM in Caddy, Chevrolet, GMC, Olds and Pontiac except trucks after 1957. Cover picture at http://talk.classicparts.com/photos/...um/catalog.jpg
“United Delco Transmission Parts” Dated 1968. 218 pages. Automatic transmission parts for 48-63 Buick, 46-64 Caddy, 50-61 Chevrolet, 54-62 GMC, 46-64 Olds and 48-64 Pontiac. Probably less than a quarter of the catalog is Dual-Range Hydra-Matic specific. Cover picture at http://talk.classicparts.com/photos/...m/catalog2.jpg
My favorite for amateurs like me that Safari Larry put on his web site is “The Hydra-Matic Transmission 1946-1955 On the car adjustment service manual”. 76 pages. You can see this whole manual at http://www.pontiacsafari.com/L1Garag...ic_1946-55.pdf
There are two small books that I have not scanned the covers on. Both are in very good condition. The 1st is “Hydra-Matic Drive Principles of Operation”. About 5” x 7” and 63 pages. All of the info in this book can be found in the other books above. It is dual-range HM specific. No date.
The 2nd is “The how and why of Hydra-Matic Throttle Linkage Adjustments” release no. 21 prepared by the Service Training Activities Section of GMC Truck and Coach Division. About 5” x 7” and about 1 pages. It is a reproduction of a slidefilm that was presented to GMC Dealer Parts and Service Managers’ Club in May 1954. Probably 2/3rds of this is GMC truck specific. Back cover a little worn, otherwise good.
End of books.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I’d like to sell the whole package, tools and books for $500. If I don’t get any buyers I’ll consider breaking it into two pieces, tool kit and books.
This offer is posted in at least three places, OldGMCTrucks forum, Performance Years Pontiac forum and the 1950s Pontiac Yahoo group.
Anyone interested?

I need to spend more time on the computer bill. Glad you are still in good shape after the incident. Shame that cant be said for your beautiful truck. Thanks for the help you have given me in the past and also to the other guys who regularly help us out on this site. the advice has been invaluable and im sure all of this sites users would agree it would be great if you continued to logg on and offer your help to us less knowlegdeable. As for my 57 i have a shopping list made up for my upcoming visit to your country. just got to save the money. Always the same, so many things that our cars require just dont get paid enough to fulfil all the wants on our lists.
