Default Identify this tach

Pulled this from a rough '65 Grand Prix that I'm parting out. It was mounted in the upper left corner of the dash using a console gauge cup with a slightly modified base. It actually looked factory, though I know it is not. Notice there is no "Pontiac" lettering on the face, and the knob for the pointer is too small. Also, the internals of the tach itself look a little newer than '65 to me and much of it is plastic. The puzzling part is that the font and overall appearance of the gauge face looks as if it were made to be in a Pontiac. Maybe an early reproduction of some sort? By the way, it works great!

Anyone? Also, it is for sale if anyone is interested. $125 shipped in the lower 48.

Tach itself is not a factory mid 60s big car. Nacelle looks like a cut console unit for '63-'66 Vac gauge.

Whoever did the install did it cleanly, as befits a GP.

Wonder if it was a dealer accessory installation?

LOL the green line all the way to the other side says the tach company was not talking to the connecting rod or valve spring supplier!

Hmmm...."green line"....I wonder if it is a Stewart Warner tach?

Might be one from a 64 GTO
It looks like one I saw many years back.

I've had '64 GTO tachs before and they are very different. This is def mounted in a console vacuum gauge/tach pod that was modified to fit in the corner of the dash. It also appears to have been made for this purpose. Keith, I don't think it is SW since there are no marking on the front or back to indicate such. I think it is newer than '65 due to the construction. I was wondering if anyone was aware of an early "reproduction" type unit (maybe from the 80's or 90's) that may have looked like this. Could also be some sort of dealer accessory that was used across GM model lines (thus the lack of "Pontiac" lettering). Notice also that it has the 4cy-6cyl-8cyl switch on the back.

Couple more observations after looking at my '63 tach:

The green line extends all the way across; there is no red line on the tach face since it is designated by the adjustable needle.

Lastly, the "Pontiac" logo appears on the bezel, rather than the tach face.

I wonder if it is new "guts" installed on a vintage tach face? I've done a few of those myself....

Regardless of how it's mounted it has to be an after market item. Pontiac would never have used one with a 4-6-8 switch. And it doesn't look like any Sun I have ever seen. I'm thinking Dixco or something like that.
