Tracing ownership

Does anyone have any ideas on how to go about tracing ownership,I know that I am the 4th owner of my'65 Bonneville Convertible.The car originally came to Michigan in or around 1982(it has a silver medal from the Michigan State Fair in '82) from California where it was assembled.I would appreciate any help in finding how many owners this car had and who they are. thanks Larry
