i was wondering how long pontiac was goin to be making the gto.i have heard rumors bout them(pontiac) not making em after 06.then i heard that they were.does anyone know for sure what the last years is goin to be.i think that they would continue for a lil more years since dodge is releasing the challeger in 08,they have the new mustang,and since dodge is very hot right now.i dunno.im thinkin bout buyin a 06 gto,but if they are goin to continue to make the gto for a couple more years i would figure i would wait till 07.

I beleive that the deal they made with the UAW only allows them to import these cars for the 04 to 06 years. I have heard nothing but rumors about an 08, seems like Pontiac does not want us to know anything concrete about the GTO (which is stupid, because guys like me would make car purchase plans to buy GTO's if we knew they would be available in the future). I wouldn't hold my breath. Given that Chevy and Dodge have figured out what a Musclecar is still supposed to be and look like in the 07 Camaro and 07 Challenger the skinny-tires-jelly-bean-generic-rental-car-looking GTO is going fade into obscurity. I doubt we'll see an 07 GTO and definately not an 08.

It is possible that the body style will change to keep up with the competitions "retro" styles but not for a few years if at all

Pontiac doesn't make a GTO, Holden makes a rebadged version of the Monaro. The Monaro is nearing the end of its model life and will cease production this year. 06 is the last of the Monaros for the US. After that, I guess Pontiac will actually have to manufacture something.

God I hope not! The Camaro has it right, new car with retro cues unlike the Mustang and Challenger which are just production resto mods.
