What would you or anyone else reccomend me being "all in" at? I bought a msd distributor recurve kit I will be playing with soon
I have vaccum advance plugged into manifold vaccum now as well

$10 on sale and you might be able to wrap your cast iron heads in aluminum foil with the $4 you have left over.

Rough idle with a RA 3 sounds like it describes a 744 cam.

If this is correct the aluminum heads won’t gain much with out a cam change too. RA3 744 cam only has .406” lift. The bigger ports on Aluminum heads just start to get going at .4” lift.

To get a 400 with 5C to 9.5-10 compression would either take some domed pistons or start out with small chamber 5c’s with a lot of milling to get the cc’s down. Both are possible, but I would be surprise if the compression is that high. By the way the performance is described it is more likely the compression is low 8s and the 744 cam. Fwiw
