Default Blue Angels in town this weekend

It has been a while since they have been in Loveland but cant wait. F-18's buzzing by my work everday so far is pretty cool. My house is so close I can watch from my house.

Those dudes ROCK!!!

I live in the flight path of our airport and get to see them occasionally when they are in town. Very inspiring!

Haven't been to an airshow in a while. They're awesome. Vintage stuff is very cool too.

A friend of mine was on the crew of the p51 mustang race plane Dago Red ...worked for both Bland and Taylor . He told me everything tech related as to how they made 3800 hp and went 528mph around the pylons....very interesting stuff. In the few years they raced Dago the broke 13 Super Merlin motors

They were down here in Houston last weekend. My house is approx. 2 miles from Ellington AFB where the airshow is held every year. When they come over during the show, it's amazing that the windows don't blow out of the house!!! Talk about HP!!!

I have seen the Blue Angels up close and personal a couple of times, same deal for the
Thunder-birds as for several years they rotated Air Shows at the Air Base in Battlecreek
Michigan. They spoke at my son's graduation ceremony.

I am a big fan of Fat Albert too.

I fish at a reservoir off the end of the runway of a local airport that just happens to be the base for a chapter of the Commemorative Air Force. I see lots of cool warbirds when I fish there but last weekend was a real highlight.
My son was in town and wanted to go fishing so we went out Saturday. We had started fishing when we heard the unmistakable sound of a big radial engine... A beautiful F4U Corsair buzzed us at about 1500ft, made a base leg turn and did his final right over our boat, gear and flaps down.
I've seen lots of warbirds but I never get the same thrill at an airshow as I do by those random sightings. It was awesome!

Speaking of P-51 Mustangs check out this formation. A F-22 Raptor, A-10 Warthog and the P-51 Mustang. The F-22 was by itself for a while and climbed vertically and at the top leveled off and slide sideways…………freakin awesome. Oops it was a F-35 Lighting not a F-22

Cool stuff. There's a B17 at the Willow Run airport near us that regularly flies paying passengers for a short loop on weekends... always right over our house. I stop the lawn mower just to watch and listen. It never gets old.

There's an air show there every year as well, and it normally features the Blue Angels. But this year they had both the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds. My wife got this pretty cool shot of the Thunderbirds with her "bird camera".

2021 is the first year the Blues are flying the Super Hornets. Previously they flew the Legacy Hornets.

A bigger airplane with more performance should result in a better show.

That must be Yankee Lady from the Yankee Air Museum. She's always in Reading, PA every year for the WWII Weekend at the Mid Atlantic Air Museum, the first weekend in June. My first B-17 ride was on Yankee Lady. The rest, several, were on 9O9 from the Collings Foundation seeing I'm a tour coordinator here in Delaware.

Yep ... that's it! I dug out one of the pictures my wife took of it with her bird camera flying over our house, and you can see the Yankee Lady lettering and artwork on it.

About 7-8 years ago I was able to get a ride on the B-17 909 that was in KC at an air show. I have to say that was one of the most memorable things I have ever done. Unfortunately this same B-17 crashed on Oct. 2, 2019 in Connecticut. I was shocked when I had heard about the crash, and remember visiting with the crew when they were in KC. I would still do another ride on B-17 if I ever get the chance again. I had made a video of the ride I took, and I still get it out and look at it quite often. I had full access to the plane (except for the tail) while it was in flight, and man, what an experience!
