I know for at least 1977, a tire code on the broadcast sheet would be all encompassing for all GM suppliers, such as Goodyear, BFG, General, Firestone. As long as it was a "GM Spec radial tire". The size and if it was a raised white letter or not would mean a different code.

Dan is going through the brakes and electrical right now and he is discovering all the brake components are factory originals...albeit worn, but original. The rubber brake hoses actually look really good, but the rotors and drums need to be turned as the original linings were worn down to the rivits and backers. The front bearings will be checked and repacked as the dust caps look like they have never been removed!

Correction on the secondary side of the carb...it has an 'N' hanger with DA metering rods (0.440" M tips).

The hoses might appear fine, but they are notorious for degrading internally, causing calipers not to release or pulling.

77 Canamman, I forgot to mention that the hoses are being replaced exactly for your reasons...age and degradation.

In the last 10 days since the Formula arrived, Dan has gone through the brakes front to back, rebuilt the original carb, installed new fuel pump and lines, installed new timing chain set, changed to oil & filter, checked the M40 (fluid clean and not burnt), checked the suspension...all original and still tight (!) and got it to run and drive (garage to garage). Next on the to-do list is to go through the electrical and wiring looms.

Had fun bleeding the brakes and then throwing on some F70 whitewalls on 14x7 steel wheels & dog dishes just for yucks. Kinda has that 70's vibe where whitewalls were still popular and common to see on musclecars.

A special shout-out goes to Paul Kilker for alerting us to the car being available early that Saturday morning after Thanksgiving.

THANK YOU PAUL!!!

If he didn't let us know, we certainly wouldn't have it now.

Dennis;

I have had real trouble figuring out the actual shape of the fuel lines on these cars;
It appears as though there are several reproductions which work with the deep cannister fuel pump, but no clear understanding of how the fuel lines ran veruss the repop lines.

Do you have pictures of the routing of the original line?
Did the repop you buy match the routing or deviate?
Who's line, and which one did you buy?

Thanks for humouring me

Jonny, We thought about using a 1971 fuel pump to carb line since the new fuel pump is the deep cannister 71-up style (only deep style we could get new). But we didn't like the incorrect straight fuel line from the T-stat to the fuel inlet, so we elected to use the repro 70 F-body 4-bbl line and had to bend the bottom connection to the fuel pump 45 degrees to fit into the more forward facing pump outlet. We had to use a tube bender to not kink the line and went slowly and test fitted quite a few times to get it to fit correctly. I'll try to get some pictures and post them soon.

Jonny, I misspoke regarding the fuel pump. We actually had (luckily) and used an original intact '70 4-bbl w/ deep cannister fuel line (not a reproduction) and slightly bent the lower connection fitting to the '71-upo fuel pump. I almost had it right
