I spent today wet-sanding and buffing the hood. I finished by putting the RAM AIR decals on. That was the fun part.

I'm working on restoring and installing all of the wiring harnesses. Cleaning all of the wires, terminals, sockets, checking them with the ohm meter, wrapping everything in new tape. I got the rear lamp harness in today with new bulbs and everything works great. Plus my original rear window defogger (blower).

Yes, stock bulbs from the local NAPA. 1157s in the taillights, 194s in the markers, and a new license plate bulb, whatever number that was.

Slowly but surely...
Headliner is in. Windlace, sun visors, windshield, outside mirror, package tray, rear defroster, rear window are all installed. Wipers are next. Then the front sheetmteal will go on for good. Then the side glass and door panels. I just need more time...

Looks good, I don't know who is further along as I don't have my engine, trans or engine harness in and still have to rebuild trans.

Looking good! Do you have a goal/date in mind for having it back on the road? Keep the updates coming!

neat thing I noticed is you have a rear defog option. I always wondered why there is carpet material on the package tray opposed to non-defog option cars. I suppose it's because the moisture could fall down so the carpet catches it?
Seems the carpet material is installed if the defog option was choosen. What do you guys think, true?

I went back and refreshed my memory of this thread by revisiting the first page. I had forgotten how long you've had this project. I can only imagine how excited you must be to have it this close to completion! I would love to see some pictures of how it looked when you bought it in 1988 and hear that story. Congrats on the progress; I love the way it looks especially with that vinyl top.

Sounds plausible to me - actually think it looks better. By the way, I saw on a copy of your PHS that the car has rear seat speaker option. Did you put that back in and how does that work with this style package tray - couldn't really see in the photos posted.

Thanks for the compliments. I hope to have it finished by springtime, but things don't move very fast for me. I just don't seem to have a lot of time to work on it. It looks close to being finished but there are still a lot of things left to do. We will see how the money holds out too. I bought this car when I was 21. I am now 43 and have never driven it, other than putting around in the driveway. So to say I am excited is an understatement.

My car has the rear speaker option and also the rear defogger, but the defogger doesn't appear on the PHS. The car had it when it was parked in 1976. I assume it was dealer-installed. All of the parts/wiring/switch/etc look to be factory parts. All cars with either rear speaker and/or defogger used the mesh package tray. Mine just happens to have both. I decided to put the defogger back in, even though it's not on the PHS. I have also added a tilt column, rally gauges, and clock that this car wasn't delivered with, but they are all correct parts. Seems kinda silly to me that the car was built with idiot lights and a hood tach.
