Nice 74 Formula 400 Ram Air on eBay
This just popped up. Highly documented Ascot Silver with black custom cloth, with tilt Formula, rear spoiler, Rally IIs, Numbers matching and looks like everything is all there. Really nice rust free driver! Priced at $23,500

Thanks - just looked that up on Mecum’s site. Hammer price was $17,050. Actually some better photos on the Mecum site. Mostly original paint, unrestored car.

Would have been nice to have found the Pontiac build sheet instead of the Chevrolet one.

Wide Oval 60's look odd on a 74.

Noticed it didn't match even though they showed it twice in the pics.

Not sure what happened, but the listing is no longer available?? Link now goes to a yellow 87 Firebird.

Nice car, but Ascot Silver is not a great color. They removed the RTS emblem on the glovebox door, and ran incorrect bias tires.
I see they fixed the paint problems on the rear bumper.

There's a live link.......on the upper left...of the 87 firebird auction...that will take you back to the 74 listing....

All things considered......I'd say that's the best detailed "survivor" 74 Firebird I've seen.....
Most others.....including the SD's....are over restored...or over detailed... Whoever did the work on this really got it right. Looks like the floorboards were washed...and clear coated.... The ebay buyer got a great deal....on a turnkey 74.......with all the right stuff...(other than a stick)...........and my hat is off to the seller......for picking it off at an auction....where a 74 Formula 400 would be a DOG.......and putting it on ebay........where somebody else recognized the quality and value.......Now that.....was a nice clean fast flip.... |

Could never build one for that, or restore one for that either.

It really was a nice car. Needed paint and a bit of upholstery,,but a great car. Kudos on the flip.

Agreed - great buy at auction and nice fluffing for the ebay sale. I have more than that in mine but I think that it is at about the same level of originality/refreshing and well sorted out. The difference is mine is a 455 so I think I’m at the right investment level given this sale. Glad to see the 74 Formys getting some action.
