I'm posting this to gauge the possibilities out there. I'm considering a trade for a 1994 TA 25th or possibly a 1998 to 2002 Ram Air Trans Am or a Formula, possibly a GTO. Condition and options are important to me so please give a good description an pictures. Here is what I have: I do have receipts to show every dollar put into this car over the last 4 years. I've owned this since I was 21. This is a 1974 Firebird Formula 400, 4 speed(Muncie), 3.42 posi rear. I do have the original engine in storage with 100k miles. Asking $11,500 or a comparable trade.

The Interior recently had the front seats recovered and the rest of the interior is still original. It has a newly rebuilt 1974 400 block and internals, .040 over, stock crank, rods and aftermarket pistons(forget the brand off hand), fully balanced, aftermarket crower camshaft. KRE aluminum heads, ram air manifolds and new exhaust system. KRE picked out the heads and cam. It was machined and assembled locally. Quadrajet rebuilt by Cliff Ruggles, points distributor converted to HEI by (Suntuned). I added 17" repro honeycombs and Nitto tires. Oem 15" honeycombs go with the car too. It will need a restoration but I've got all the items to complete that job. 2 full cut off quarters, original trunk floor and rear body panel, front fender patches for the original fenders that are in storage. The fenders on the car are rust free but have dents, an extra passenger door, repro door handles and NOS sill plates, rocker molding and upper window trim. The rust on this car when I bought it consisted of a hole in the passenger door lower corner, lower heel rust on the quarters, front lower fender rust and the trunk floor has the typical issues along with a rusted rear body panel.

It recently had new body mounts installed, 2 new front springs, suspension rebuild with poly bushings, some steering parts replaced, 4 tires and new PA inspection. The exhaust system was put back to a Pypes rossflow with X pipe. This car has great potential for someone that can finish it. I've got alot of time and money invested so far and I'm taking a loss. I'd prefer a newer turn key car with ac now that I'm older with a family. I will not take this car out till spring but you're more than welcome to come view it and hear it run. It has been in dry storage since 1996. At one time I showed it as a survivor car. It was purchased with 82,000 original miles and all stock parts. This has been run on PHS. There was alot done over the last 4 years and I've forgotton things I'm sure. I installed a blowproof bell, custom clutch linkages(spherical bearing type), centerforce dual fricton clutch, the muncie was taken apart and inspected and just gaskets were needed, hurst rebuilt the original shifter. I still have the original hinges but I had another set from a 75 that were rebuilt. I installed only the driver's door side. I plan ondoing more work before spring. I'm sending an early 68-72 intake to SD Performance to perform their service and I've gotta have the front seats taken out and extra cushioning that was installed removed. (upholstery shop took it upon themselves to add more cushioning). If I think of more I will surely add it. Thanks for looking.

I had some questions through email and will post more info here. Over the years I replaced the headlight bezels with NOS items, the lower valance was an NOS item, the outer window weatherstrip and bird emblem on the front as well. These items were all installed Pre 99. The remaining interior is in nice original shape only needing the carpet replaced. The original radio and 8track are still in place but I put a CD player in the glovebox Pre 99. It had a single rear speaker but I cut in another. I have the original speaker cover and another from a 75. I still have the original engine in storage. It ran great but was worn and starting to show that wear by light smoke. I believe rings were worn and valve seals were worn. It had run a stock time if 14.87 at 97mph. This car had sat since 04. I sold the car to my mom and she just parked it knowing one day I'd probably get it back. In the process of getting it running I had to put in a new battery. I installed pre 99, a 5.5" rev limiter tach and it is band clamped to the column. The dash is not cracked or cut. I also bought an early non rts gauge panel with ac to add a new oil and water gauge. This way it can be out back to stock if you like.

I'm putting this back up for sale. I'm not looking to trade for anything else at this moment. I've located another car and want to try and make a deal on that. This Firebird Formula 400 is still $11,500 OBO. Ask any questions or come look at and drive it. That's a nice car for the price, it's all about timing and just finding the right buyer for it now. be patient, spring is the air, well, maybe not where you are,lol, but the car is nice and a 74 formy is rare, the body look good, and for 11.5k it's a good deal. If it were closer to me I would buy it. don't get desperate and lower the price, I think you'll get it sold, all in all it's worth more than 11.5k.

Thanks for the positive comment. I actually would take 1000 off the price to keep the repro wheels and put the honeycombs back on. I'm sure a lot of guys look at it and think it's not worth it because of the condition, needing restored. But it's actually in good shape for a northern car.

Any old formy/trans am for 11.5k is gonna need work/resto. that's a given, from the pics it look pretty complete, straight and it's a running car, what else do they expect?? it's also a 4 speed car, which adds to the value. the right person will come along and grab it.
